YouTube Widget skipped video in playlist.

So when I do a test run the first time, it plays all the videos just fine. The second run through, it skipped the last video and had started back at the beginning. The problem is, I have content that matches the videos and when it does this, then they are no longer matching. The third run through it played all videos again, but now the content is off. Before I added the last video, it was doing that to the video before too I think. I don't know if it's my YouTube playlist or what. :( I am slowly going to be adding more videos and content so I was trying to make sure it works right before I continue.

I am using the YouTube Widget using the type 1, maybe I should try type 2? Do I try to make a new YouTube Playlist maybe? Is it the widget or my playlist?

It did it in both the save & preview and on the player. My computer is Windows 10 that I used to preview it and the laptop the player is on is old and is just being used to test this until we do it live, then we will be getting a computer for it. The laptop it is on is old and may have problems, but it does this when I preview it on my computer too so I can't blame it on the laptop I don't think this time.

Just watched it do it's fourth run through and it skipped the last video again. :(
Fifth it played sixth it didn't. It seems like it might be every other one it skips the last video of the playlist. It's weird.

I am looking into this. Can you provide the playlist to me so that i may test? If we find the issue we can easily fix the problem. Thanks

Edit:

Thank you much for your help!

PS. Name is Tara. :) Maybe I should put that my username. The company just had me start working with this so I am still learning.

I have made an adjustment to the playlist item. You might need to clear cache on your browser but it should fix the issue you are having. It might take a few minutes for the server to update the code but i did put in a fix that might solve your issue.

Let me know if the its working correctly. Thanks

So it seems to be working fine it on save and preview, but seems to be off on the player on the laptop. I wasn't watching carefully to see where it messed up. I was working on other things that and my eyes are bothering me looking at these monitors I think too so that isn't helping.

I might wait until Monday back at work to work on it some more, but if you have any other helpful advice that would be great. Maybe this time it is the laptop. :)

If its on wifi you have to remember there is no caching for youtube. There are ways to do it but not for all OS's. Wifi can cause issues especially if its slow or has connection issues, so be aware of that. Anyway let me know what you see and i will deffinatelty test on my end. Thanks

Hi William,

I was curious what you've mentioned here about ways to do caching for YouTube.. I'm interested in being able to do just that if possible. Bandwidth could be a concern in some of our locations, and I'd like YouTube to still be available to them. What OS's could I use for such a thing? Is there another thread you could point me to? Thanks! :)

There are ways people have used javascript to cache videos but the issue is when something changes on youtubes side. You have to change everytime they change. Its not reliable in anyway. If you do get something going, how long will it last is always a question i ask. Its not something i need to have for a paid widget because a constant breakdown always ends badly. However we are looking into a different options with youtube though. It might replace the one we have on the store but its still on a long list of things todo. Im also doing this on my free time so its always hard to judge when i can get to things. Right now im playing with windows IOT. I did have a beta going but some changes on windows and on Rise have made me go back to the drawing board. Im close to getting back but i have 2 more hurdles to figure out. :)

Ahh, completely understand.. I just saw this and thought there might be something we could use. Development lifecycle and maintenance can be quite consuming. I like to keep an eye on your projects, I've had an interest in Windows IOT, just no time to check it out lately. I honestly am in awe you do as much as you do as a side project. :)

Okay, sounds good. I'm not sure at the moment. The company plans to buy a designated machine for this so maybe when we do that, it will work fine. I'll try again on Monday and will let you know. I think I'm going to work on some other things for the rest of my work day. :) Thank you much for your help.
