Youtube Widget

Today we are releasing our Youtube widget to the general public in the store. It is a paid widget but we did allow for a 7 day trail so that you could see how it was going to look on your players. It uses the shared url and the playlist url to work. Also for those looking at the playlist, we made two different types. The first type allows the player to play all videos before going on to the next item in the place holder. The second type allows the player to play all the the items in the placeholder between each video. These are in beta because there is a know bug in youtube with playlist but it shouldn't effect the player until youtube patches it. Also this will work on android but will caution that youtube tends to like to corrupt webview on some devices so sometimes a good restart or reboot will fix the playback issue.

Now i know most people are use to free things from me, but we knew in time that we had to make parts of our creations non-free. The android apps and anything related to players will stay free. I believe that is something that should always be free. The only thing we are not going to be making free is any widgets we create. In doing this we are no longer taking donations as well. This way its fair for us and everyone.

Anyway I hope everyone enjoys the widget and if you find anything that needs to be looked at please email me at support@scottsdigitalsignage.com

This is great news William! The community has been clamoring for a youtube widget for some time. It looks like it's going to be well worth the low price. I can't wait to get this into some of my presentations!

I forgot to add the please check play until done if you doing multiple items. I asked for to be defaulted but at this time it could not be. In the future hopefully Rise will allow this option. Thanks

William, will the widget filter out ads and popups?

That has to be set by the user on there videos. The reason is that a lot of people get shared revenue from ads. If all embedded players had the ability to stop ads everyone would do it when embedding them which stops shared revenue in its track. I have pretty much taken out what google allows to be taken out like relative videos and other junk, but the rest will have to be done on your account by not allowing certain videos to have ads. Thats the only way to get no ads or popups. Also if i did take out ads with my own coding i will be against googles term agreements so i have to obey those terms to keep this widget going.

The only operating system that seems to get around this is android. I dont know why and that could be something with webview. I know that ability will go away though as android evolves.
