Yet again my schedules are not working.

I have two slides that were scheduled to come down two days ago, Instead of just removing them from the rotation, they are showing an error along the lines of "media missing or has been deleted"!!!

This is really starting to upset management when they see these errors. I can't keep having these errors pop up, I do not have the time to be checking the displays every day to see if they are doing what they are supposed to be doing!

Glen,

I'll need a little more information here. Can you provide a link to the schedule in question?

I have already deleted the slides in question to ensure my displays are not full of errors.

Yet again I set a date and time to stop the images from being displayed and it showed errors instead of removing the slides. Same presentation that I've had this issue with before.

Glen,

To confirm your issue, you are stating that if I take one of these images within the center placeholder, and set it to display from 3/2/2016 - 3/13/2016, it will show an error instead of skipping that image, is this correct?

Glen,

I tried replicating this issue and was unsuccessful.

Here's what I did.
  • I copied the presentation you referenced above into my own company.
  • I opened the properties of the center placeholder that contains 9 images.
  • I set 3 of these images to play until 3/13/16 (yesterday)
Here what happened.
  • The presentation played through as it should, with no error message shown. The expired content did not appear.
What you are saying is happening.
  • The image placeholder plays through content, showing all expired content with an error message.
In the future, it would be helpful if you could submit possible bug reports in this format
What I tried
What happened
What should have happened

Be as concise and detailed as possible. This will help us to verify and log bugs as quickly as possible.

Blake,
Apologies, I've been sick the past few days.

This isn't the first time this has happened, and my process is always the same.

  • I Schedule content to display/come down certain days.
  • I expect it to start/stop displaying entirely (Doesn't seem to have an issue before starting)
  • Instead, it either shows just a blank slide or an error saying the file has been moved or deleted (Neither of which are true).

Can't really be more concise than that, this (should be) a very straight forward process. I've provided this information before and it never changes. These displays have even had the player totally removed and reinstalled in the past few weeks due to other issues (Chrome Error popping up). So you would think we wouldn't be running into the same issues again and again given that everything is up to date and fresh installs.

Nearly every time I've reported the issue you guys can't reproduce it. The odd time you have been able to, said an update was coming, it works for awhile then stops working again.

Is this issue happening on multiple machines within your network or just one? If just one, and you've wiped it and re-installed the software - I would be inclined to think its a hardware issue. What other programs are installed on the machines?

Same issue on two displays with the same presentation. Nothing else is installed. They are setup specifically for use as Digital Displays. Both machines were also reformatted about a month ago in an effort to try and get the Google error to go away before they found a fix.

Hi Glencoe,

I'm following this thread as eventually we will want to schedule content for specific times and I certainly wouldn't want to see "broken" screens like you describe.

I take it this is a fairly frequent, reproducible problem? Have you considered creating a separate company to house a suspect presentation to see if it persists there, and you could share that presentation with Rise without having to update it.

I know the Preview function ignores schedules, so you'd need to throw that on a device to test. I'm curious if attaching that schedule to another device would give the same errors or not.

When you do see this error on the box, have you tried rebooting the box itself? If so, does the "moved" or "deleted" dialog stay? Wondering if it's got something cached that isn't getting updated.

Wendi,
The box gets rebooted nightly and updates RIseVision automatically.

It is a sporadic problem that happens, then doesn't, then happens, then doesn't. Rise has both been able to reproduce, and not able to reproduce.

The presentation is already on a separate company and RiseVision has had access to it. There is no warning and no rhyme or reason as to why it happens. All the content is the same, graphics are always formatted the same size, the only difference is the date/time being posted.

Glencoe,

Has this happened again since your last point on the 17th?
