windows player won't install

The windows player fails to install on a Win 7 PC, the error box says it is unable to download - check internet connection.
The log box behind first shows that it can't download java v7 - I have manually installed this on the PC, but the installer still tries to download this and fails.
The second error point is trying to download chromium v24.

I then tried the Chrome App which says that it has installed into Chrome (latest stable build), however nothing happens when I try to launch it.

Are there currently any known issues with the installers?
Are there any detailed log files that can be checked for the exact errors?

Many thanks

Hi Paul,

I would begin with checking to see if there is a block placed in the network that is preventing the files from being downloaded. You can verify what needs access through firewalls and proxies here.

Java and Chrome are downloaded into their separate folders under C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\RVPlayer, which is why it is looking to download them even if already installed elsewhere.

I just tried running the installer files and didn't encounter any problems.

Please let us know if you need anything further.

Thanks.

I was with the network manager at the time of downloading and he confirmed that there are no blocks on file type downloads - they are scanned by a transparent proxy, but not blocked.
Can you provide me with the direct links for the downloads that the installer tries to make so I can ensure that they are not being blocked.

Many thanks

Here's the links for the files that are downloaded:

Chrome browser: http://commondatastorage.googleapis.c...
Rise Cache: http://commondatastorage.googleapis.c...
Java: http://commondatastorage.googleapis.c...
Rise Player: http://commondatastorage.googleapis.c...

Thanks.

Is it possible to manually download the required files and place them on the local machine to save the installer downloading.
Due to the file sizes of chrome and java, our web gateway proxies and virus checks the files and then returns a webpage which requires a user interaction.
Unfortunately there is no simple method to bypass the gateway and so I'm looking for another install route.
The PC already has a newer version of Chrome and Java than required, however the installer can't detect their versions.

Many thanks

Have you considered using the Chrome App Player in Windows?  You can find additional information here.

You could do each version individually.  As an alternative, you could use this file and place it into the appropriate folder instead. Once downloaded, unzip it so that the rvplayer folder resides in the computer's C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local folder.  Once done, you can run the RiseVisionPlayer.exe file and then enter your Display ID.

Thanks.
