Why does Rise HATE horizontal text scrolling?

Harsh title - perhaps.  But earned.  I've marked this as a question, only because rant wasn't available...

Scrolling text - That stable of TV and digital signage for showing large quantities of text to captivate readers word-by-word is a standard expected feature used the world over.

Currently, Rise has no way of permitting in the new editor via the GUI horizontally scrolling text for no apparent reason.  The text widget does not have this feature, the former scrolling text content item is a gadget (not a Widget), the former google sheet gadget did this well, but the Widget version cannot.

The only way to do this currently is using an HTML widget - something that my non-coding end-users will not be able to do with any regularity.  Since the scrolling text items, at least in my case, are typically frequently changing, short term messages that no one had time to create a graphic/slide for, there is no way this will be acceptable as a solution.

Is there a technical reason Rise has purged this feature from throughout the system?

If the response is merely 'it is so easy to do via HTML', then I'd would also expect it would also be easy for Rise to add this as an option to the text & spreadsheet widgets that would properly wrap those in the <marquee>proper tags.</marquee>

/rant

BTW - Mostly love the system... ;-)

There is a reason why non-capable of coding should not get involved with content creation ))) ...non-of my business of course. However, may I suggest an easy solution/workaround? Use placeholder with a transition effect of your choice and deliver messages thru Text Widget. Should be easy enough for regular folks, I think.

We've have work queued up to add horizontal scrolling to the Text Widget, but it will be a few weeks before we start that work. We'll post and update when it is available.

Thanks!

Great News!

Once you figure it out, is it very difficult to port the changes to do so with the Google Spreadsheet as well?

Good to know that a horizontal scroller is on the way! This topic was just being mulled over yesterday as to why it was gone! We love the ease and practilcality of being able to just plug in the text needed quickly.

Thanks!

We have just changed one of our custom widgets from horizontal scrolling to a "paging" system where a chunk of text slides on and then pauses. When you are continually scrolling text using Javascript, it starts to stutter as soon as you have any kind of animation going on anywhere else.
