White Text Displays As Dark Green

In my presentation, I attempted changing the text to white. Here is the HTML of the text:
Testing White

That is the proper coding for white text however, it displays as dark green when I go back to the design tab and also when saving. This caused much frustration and eventually, I had to use a workaround using the following code:
Testing White

A solution would be to use the hex color instead of rgb. Here is the presentation:

I have just attempted using the EXACT same CSS code as displayed in the template "Menu 1 (Rise Display):
.heading_font-style{font-family:Arial, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(255, 255, 255);font-size:24px;}

and it still displays black although the Menu 1 displays white just fine.

Second post was when attempting changing color with Google Spreadsheet gadget. Turns out it is pulling the font color from my spreadsheet. When I changed it white on my spreadsheet, it also changed white on my display.

I have seen situations in the past where the colors set in the spreadsheet itself cause problems on the display. I normally recommend to go into the spreadsheet and click on Clear formatting (under the Format menu). This normally gets rid of most of the problems seen on the Display.

Thanks.

Although that is a valid solution for the spreadsheet, the larger issue is changing just text within RV. I have linked my presentation to the first post. When attempting to change the font color (ex. of NFL, MLB, etc..) using the rgb format as RV does by default, the text displays as dark green. In my case, I was attempting to change the text to white. I will set it to white using rgb format for a few days in hopes that someone can fix this issue.

I've updated this presentation and changed nfl and mlb to white text using the built in color selector from rv. As you can see, it displays as green in color.

Hi Mike,

The <font> tag has been deprecated for quite some time. As well, it never supported rgb values. For now, I would recommend wrapping your text in a <span> tag and applying color that way.

Thx.

Thank you. This leads to a follow up question. Within my placeholder, I highlighted the text and clicked on color. From here I chose white (but it displays green). If the tag is deprecated and does not support rgb values, why is the placeholder>text>design>color using an rgb value? This should be updated.

Mike,

I'm following up with a developer now on the best way to proceed. I'll update this conversation once I have an answer.

Thanks!

Any update on this issue Robb? I have emailed in with no response. Perhaps you have a ticket submitted that I could track the status on?

Mike,

Very sorry for the delay in getting back to you. As we switch everything over to using Widgets which is something we are working on now, this deprecation will be taken into account for the new Text Widget.

In the meantime, would using a Bulletin work for you to get the color scheme that you need?

I have discovered a work around, and will await the widgets being implemented. What is your time frame for this?

Mike,

Unfortunately I don't have a specific time frame outside of in the next few months, sorry about that.

Any chance you can share the work around? I'm curious to hear what it was. Thanks!

If it helps any, I had this white (or any other light color) text displaying as dark green problem as well just yesterday. In fact, I could get it to display no other colors at all besides black or dark green. In my case, it cleared up when I edited my presentation using Chrome rather than Firefox. Why? I can't even begin to guess.

Ed, that's great to hear! I can also confirm this as a valid solution. What concerns me is others that will have this issue when using Firefox. I never would have thought the font color html would be different when using chrome vs firefox.

@Robb Perhaps this could be fixed without much work? I'm uncertain why it does this. Below is the html code after I saved with chrome vs firefox. The second one is firefox and shows up dark green as Ed has confirmed.

<div align="center"><b><font size="7" color="#ffffff">NFL</font></b></div>

<div align="center"><font color="rgb(255, 255, 255)"><b><font size="7">NFL</font></b></font></div>

As you can see, it sets the font color to a rgb value which I don't believe is valid in this form.

Mike,

Are you saying that after you save the Presentation in Chrome, the HTML switches to show incorrectly, specifically the example code you have listed above?

The invalid code with the rgb value saves in firefox incorrectly but works fine with chrome.

Man, that is weird, I don't recall ever seeing that one before.

Once this is corrected with the updated text Widget, we will be sure to let everyone know.

Thanks!

1 year and this still hasn't been fixed! I still have to go in and change the code manually!

Olympus,

What are you using to display the text? Are you using the Text Item from the Properties -> Add menu, or are you using the Text Widget from the Properties -> Content Store? The text widget available here, provides the ability to display White text.
