White Screen on Presentation

We have 8 displays running in which 7 are currently working fine but one display is showing just a white screen and we've run out of ideas on what it could be! We have tried deleting the display and re-adding a new display ID but this hasn't worked. We have also tried to use an existing display ID and that doesn't work also we still just get a white screen!

We are using Acer Chromeboxes for all displays

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Tom

Hi there Tom,

I know we spoke via the chat bubble, and while we don't support the ChromeOS at this time, I think your best bet here may be to do a powerwash on that device and build it right from scratch. That way there are no remnant files that may be causing issues.

My stronger recommendation is to go with a Windows or Linux Player instead though :)

Let us know how you make out!

Hello Rob,

We have tried to powerwash and to build them from scratch but have still had no luck which is weird as all over devices are working perfectly well.

Wow...that throws me for a bit of a loop then :).

Could it be something as simple as the content scheduled to show is being blocked on that Display? Have you tried assigning the Schedule on that Display to another Display and seeing if they have the same behaviour?

Yes it seems really strange!

I have just tried the same presentation on another display and it shows fine so its something to do with the Chromebox maybe? I will check our filtering at the school to make sure nothing is blocking it.

Wow...that is strange that it is something just about that machine, I have no idea what it could be.

The only thing that comes ot mind for me on the machine level, is if it has a static IP, OR if your network  team is using MAC addresses for rules, maybe something has been set up for the specific IP or Mac address of that machine that is causing this.

Be sure to let us know how you make out,  am very curious :)

Still having no luck with it displaying.

We have checked our security and all looks fine with it being white-listed. All the other displays are running fine but just this one that seems to have the problem.

Would it be worth uninstalling and re-installing rise vision?

Tom,

This may be due to a fix we rolled out this morning, which you can read more about here. Rebooting your devices should fix the issue. Let us know how you make out!

Hi Tom,

What is the name of the schedule that's having this issue?

Tom,

It looks like all of the placeholders in this presentation are not configured to a display.

You'll need to select a display (or all displays) in order for the placeholders to appear.

I've gone ahead and made the changes for you. Can you let us know if that resolves your issue?

Tom,

I'm not seeing any other issues with the presentation. I have this running here on my Windows machine, and the presentation looks great.

It looks like this would have to be a problem with network, or possibly the cache on your Chrome OS device. Unfortunately, Google has not made it possible to clear the browser cache of a kiosk mode device. If power cycling doesn't work, a fresh reinstall may be your only option.
