I am using the Rise Player for Chrome on a Chromebit in Single-App Kiosk mode.  Currently, The webpage widget in my presentation is displaying old cached content.  The webpage contains a slideshow of photos, and one of the photos that has been removed from the server is still in rotation on the player.  The page displays properly if accessed directly or if accessed through the Preview function in the Rise Vision interface, but it required a Ctrl+F5 to clear the web cache.

I have attempted rebooting the player and the device several times to no avail. I have looked at similar posts in the community and saw that one suggested altering the cache-control headers on the web page itself.  I talked to our web admin, and he removed the cache control lines in the html (which, as I understand, means that the page can't be cached any longer), but the behavior remains.

Any ideas on how to get the player to pull the updated content?

Thanks,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,

The Rise Player Chrome Application is not a supported player at this time. Caching in the app is known to act erratically, and that's one of the reasons that we don't suggest or support it's use.

You could try using the Web Page Widget's built in control interface to clear the cache, but I can't guarantee success.

Create a new presentaiton, with only a full screen Web Page Widget. Point the widget to http://localhost:9449/config. Assign that to your Chromebox display.

Plug in a mouse and keyboard to your chromebox, and click "clear cache".

Aaron,

Were you able to solve the issue?

The issue is occurring at a remote site (I can see that it is displaying the wrong content through screenshots taken from my Google Admin page).  I won't have an opportunity to test this for a while.  If there's not a permanent fix, and Rise is not supporting this application, I may need to find another.

Aaron,

Is there any chance of switching over to a Windows or Linux box and running our native Player?
