A while back our WebM videos started "flashing black/blinking" at the end of the video before it loops back to the start. I have tried both Firefogg and Miro Video Convertor.

Here are a couple of videos we've had this trouble with (They are both about 14 seconds):

I have looked at the metadata issue but only see a solution for MP4s.

Hmm...I've got both these videos running on a Windows 7, 8 and Linux Ubuntu Display here and so far everything looks great. I wonder if it is something unique to the hardware you are running the Presentation on.

Curious, have you tried converting to MP4 to see if you get the same black flash/blink?

Okay - converting to MP4 worked - there is no longer a blink/black flash when I test locally on my Mac lappy. I'll put it up on our presentation screen in a bit.

I would still like to figure out the WebM file. We're getting some new windows machines later this month that have these specs:

Acer Veriton X4620G Desktop Computer – Upgraded 4GB RAM
Intel Core i7, i7-3770 3.40 GHz, 4GB RAM + 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD,
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

I think we're on i5 processors right now so that could be the problem.

I'll keep you posted.

I am going to bring this back. I cannot find usable solution for flickering (going black) video when looping. I tried different types of videos. The only thing that worked for me was animated GIF. Yet, I cannot use this type of file in some certain situations. Is there a workaround of some sort? Or maybe I must use some specific settings for videos? Hi Darius, I'll take a look at the presentation and see if I can replicate.

I was doing some testing with good looping 10s video tonight. For entire testing process I was using only the files uploaded to Rise Vision storage. Here is what I've learned so far. First I uploaded MP4 file and pulled it with Video Widget. It was flickering black at looping (Windows Madia Player on my PC was looping it without any glitches).

I converted the file to WebM and got the same black flickering. Again, was using Video Widget.

I converted the file to Animated GIF. This time I pulled the file as image and it was working just fine. However, I need large resolution video backdrop; therefore, GIF cannot be used here.

Finally, I converted the file to SWF. Initially I pulled the file with Flash Widget and got white flickering at looping (Adobe Flash Player 10 had no issues playing it on my PC). After that, I built a little webpage using Dreamweaver with nothing in it just SWF file. I uploaded it and this time pulled it with URL Widget, and this time I got it playing as it supposed to be.

In my conclusion (it might be wrong, though), I think  you, Rise Vision people, might wanna take a look at these Video and Flash Widgets. If you needed the copies of files I've used, I would be more then happy to give you the links. Here is what I have there now playing SWF using URL Widget: http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=ee9c4088-edb0-48d2-8609-29fe3726d...

Hi Darius,

Achieving a seamless looping of video with the Video Widget is proving to be a tricky and potentially detrimental update of code to the Widget. There are numerous factors and scenarios that the Widget must account for when being used in RVA and presentations/schedules.

As an alternative solution to using the Widget in a presentation, I have put together an example HTML file that I am using in a test schedule. I uploaded your video to our test storage account to use. The HTML file uses our rise-storage (https://github.com/Rise-Vision/web-component-rise-storage) component to retrieve the file and uses the HTML5 <video> element to play the video. The "loop" attribute has been applied to the <video> element to continuously loop the video.

http://viewer-test.appspot.com/Viewer.html?type=schedule&id=a5b62851-8268-4b4d-9074-726b4eb87848&showui=false

You will notice a momentary flicker each time the video loops, which will vary in severity by browser. In Chrome it is very quick, but noticeable.

Perfectly seamless looping of HTML5 video is difficult to achieve. So you may want to look to doing this approach I've illustrated in this HTML file or your own approach in an HTML file and use that in a schedule as opposed to the Video Widget in a presentation. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Hi Stuart,

Cannot see video playing, but would appreciate if you could post the HTML code.

Stuart we tested on another connection and are able to see the video.

At this point we believe it is related to our lab firewall.

All good.  Thanks.

Hi Rise,
I know this is an old topic, that's been marked Solved...however, I am still seeing a black flash in between the video looping. I have tried .webM and .mp4 videos. I'm using the latest player and widgets. Any thought on this one?

Here is my presentation.

Thank you,

The only way I know how to solve this issue is by using the HTML or Web Page Widgets. I am using the Web Page Widget for certain reasons.

Thanks Darius, I hadn't yet tried the Web Page Widget. However, I do have the HTML Working okay on loop. I believe I used some code you had pasted in the Rise Vision forum somewhere.
Thanks!

You are welcome AdGator. I prefer the Webpage Widget because I can edit/replace content without touching presentations, but the HTML widget is pretty much the same thing. And if it makes you feel better, BrightSigns (at least the one I had a chance to play with) was also shuttering at the 'seam.'
