webm video

I am testing some sample webm videos that I got online to see how that format will work in my presentations. I used two of them in a test presentation. I used the html5 widget and selected play until done for the two webm videos in the placeholder of about 12 presentations. Whichever of the videos plays first as part of the entire presentation just keeps looping - in other words none of the subsequent presentations in the placeholder gets a chance to run. Am I missing something here? This is happening when I preview the presentation.

Dwight,

Please allow me to confirm the behaviour you're seeing.

  1. You have a placeholder with multiple presentations
  2. Two of these presentations contain .webm videos displayed by the HTML5 Video Widget set to PUD.
  3. Once the presentations containing the HTML5 Video Widget are played, they begin looping. You are unable to see the rest of the presentations.
Is this correct?

Thank you Blake. That is correct.

Dwight,

Thanks for the confirmation. Since this sounds like it is not working as intended, I will be putting these on my uptime displays. I will let you know if I am able to recreate this issue.

Thanks!

Dwight,

I have been able to recreate this. I'm currently logging a bug for our developers. For the moment, instead of using Play Until Done, you can set the duration on the embedded presentation to the length of the video.

Hi Blake I appreciate your efforts. I will have to do that in the interim. The only limitation of the feature where you set the duration to the length of the video is that they never really line up (in terms of seconds). The difference becomes apparent after all the presentations in the placeholder have run say 4 or more times - since each video does not automatically restart on each cycle of its run. Then you get a video starting to show close to its end - and the problem magnifies with each successive cycle. I look forward to a solution. By the way is this a problem other users have experienced?

Dwight,

I totally understand. This bug has been logged. I'll keep you updated on it's development.
