web page widget not showing whole page

I am not fully sure how to describe what is going on.  I can tell you what it looks like, but it's hard to determine what we are seeing.

We have a customer with a shipping schedule.  The display is VERY simple and just uses the URL widget and pulls a section of spreadsheet from a Google doc.  However at random intervals the entire content stops showing.  The bottom several rows are dropped.  However it's almost like a mask of some sort because the right side gets cropped too.  Any ideas would be helpful.  This is still in development but needs to be delivered soon.

I've included a picture.  The left is what it starts out looking like.  At some point it changes to the pic on the right.  These aren't the exact same display, but you get the idea.  It's supposed to fill the screen and at some point stops.  The timing on it is very random.

tony,

Are you seeing any errors in the chrome dev tools when this happens?

I found an issue that concerns me for all my presentations.  Around 2:20 the presentation just stopped.  Interestingly it seems right around the same time Rise checks to see if it is running.  I don't know exactly what time it stopped, as every clock varies by just a few minutes, but one of our guys looked at his watch and it said 2:22.  At 2:11, Rise says the presentation is running.  The event viewer shows no errors, but says at 2:19 gupdatem "stopped running".  In the task scheduler there is a Google update task that is automatically put there.  I don't this has anything to do with it since it happens at a very different time, but I do want to ask if this should be allowed to run our if this task is supposed to be stopped.

tony,

Google pushed an update for Chrome last night (version 43). It's likely that this tried to update at 2:22 (AM I'm assuming), and failed so it stopped. To my knowledge, a task of 'gupdatem' would not affect Rise Player unless it was actively updating Chrome. If it DID update Chrome, that version would not be fully installed until player (or Chrome) was relaunched.

PM.  I was watching it and the presentation just quit.  ...nothing left but the wallpaper.  No errors.  It just stopped.

Can you tell me which version of Chrome the media player is now running?

If you open up a chrome browser, click the three lines at the top right, click about Google Chrome. The version number will be displayed.

Got it.  I  read your request wrong.  So fast I read it as "Chrome Media Player" ...never heard of it.

Version is 43.0.2357..65m.  Interestingly enough it is not the same version that my Rise Interfaced says is running on this machine.

tony,

Looks like a Chrome update caused Rise Player to crash on your media player. We'll look into this and see if we can replicate. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Have you found anything more about this issue with part of the screen simply missing?  ...and the white strip on the side?  It doesn't seem to have catalyst.  It just happens on occasion.  Sometimes right after startup.  Sometimes it takes hours.  The machine I was testing today had it happen at some point this afternoon.  Nobody was watching it.

tony,

Please see my first response to your question. Do you see any errors in dev tools when this happens?

That's kind of the problem.  These are so random and these machines are set to restart 2X/day.  If someone isn't right there when it happens (the restart) then they start running again and invariably mess up when they're not being watched.  We've stopped the restarts, hoping to catch it.

You'll have to excuse me.  This is not a tool we use often.  The display hasn't done what we've been complaining about it yet.  Outwardly it would appear as though all is good, but I do see yellow triangles come up frequently that say "Invalid request"   Also red text comes up often referencing a heartbeat callback.  I don't click on any of the links because we are really concerned about the screen going blank on the bottom and the side and the last time we tried to click on the link to see what those other issues are they window went away and we had to restart the machine.

tony,

Are you still seeing this issue with the web page widget?

Not sure.  I'm actually not a huge fan of this widget as compared to the other company that pulled theirs.  I'm hoping they have them out again soon.  I stopped using it.   Also the customer has an external IT guy who needs to open up the firewall for it to work.  He's MIA for a week so we just dumped the weather for now.

tony,

Understood. If this comes up again please let me know here and I'll mark the thread as in progress. Thanks.
