In the coming weeks we plan to start work on our Web Page Widget to make it easier to use and more reliable. The requirements that will drive our work to be done can be reviewed in the Google Doc here, https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NnJ1OlJ2-_T54inzUcTBwP0vjUO2JvyAu4fjK2EHNEs/edit?usp=sharing.

Before we start that work, we'd like to hear your feedback on the requirements we have outlined in the Google Doc. Did we miss anything? What additional functionality should we consider that would make the Widget more useful for you?

Thanks to all. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for this Alan.

My only addition, which I believe is covered in the first two user stories, are the refresh intervals working properly (not reloading every time) and the transition between web pages. Most importantly that Google Slides web pages are transitioned in a seamless fashion...I'm currently using the old web page gadget xml code to have good playback transitions.

You are definitely on to something with the Kiosk user story. I know Chrome has some type of kiosk functionality already built in. If you pursue the Kiosk user story, I would highly recommend building a separate Web Page Widget specifically for Touch Screen Kiosks. You would keep the basic Web Page Widget stable and be able to pull the necessary chrome-plugs for the Kiosk Widget. Also, web page/HTML based keyboards are becoming quite capable, so keyboard management could be an additional functionality to the Kiosk Widget, added later down the road.

In my book, this Web Page Widget is one of Rise's top 5 functionalities, I was a little disappointed to see the issues that resulted during the transition from Gadget to Widget...however it's good to know you're working on it!

Thanks for all of your service!
Joe Kirchner
