Videos not playing

There's about a dozen videos in my presentation and none of them are playing. Instead it says, "Please wait while your video is downloaded." This message is persistent regardless of which video I attempt to play within the presentation. I can copy the video url from the video widget and paste it into a browser and the video plays without a problem.

Mike,

How large are the video files? Are you allowing them time to fully download and cache?

Hello,
Beginning today, I started having the exact same issues as Mike.  My displays are running into issues playing any video files that I have loaded.  (I at least know for certain that it is happening with mp4 and webm files)  This happens both in previews and via the client.  The displays were restarted earlier today and have had the videos in the schedule all day.  The videos are between 16MB - 25MB and reside on a local webserver, so I'm assuming that they should both be cached properly.  And I can also paste the link from the presentation into a browser and the video runs properly.

Thanks!

Jamie

Jamie,

Thanks for the post. It does appear as if the video widget is broken. I recreated one of my videos using the standard video item and the video started playing, but now I'm not getting any sound.

Just wanted to make a note that when I re-add the videos using the Video item vs. the HTML5 widget, they do work.  So, it does seem like the issue may be with the widget.

Thanks,
Jamie

Jamie and Mike,

We're currently looking into this to see if we can recreate any issues. Can you confirm for me what versions of Rise Player you are using?

Jamie / Mike, can you confirm if you're using files residing on Rise Storage or your own web server?

Hi Stuart,
I am hosting the videos on a local webserver.

Thanks!

Jamie and Mike,

Stuart has discovered an issue with the Video Widget that may be causing this situation. He's currently dropped other work and is moving forward with fixing this issue. I'll update this thread when we have a solution deployed.

Thanks for making us aware of the situation!

Jamie and Mike,

Our update has been deployed. If you reboot your media players, you should see functional Video content using the Video Widget. Please let me know how it works out for you!

Hi Blake,

It looks like the update did the trick!  The videos are working like they had been.  I really appreciate the quick response to this issue.

Thanks!
Jamie

Blake, I'm experiencing this as well.   I had to dumb the Video widget for the Video Item to get videos to play again.

Thanks Eric, I've finished downloading the full slideshow and can see that it's not playing smoothly in your test presentation compared to when you play it on the desktop.  On my way to looking into the other videos you've linked to.

Eric,
I am still working on it. But what I can tell so far is that all of your videos are playing alright on my computer in preview. However, most of them do not on my Asus RV player... just like you described. What I did is converted all of these videos using Adobe Media Encoder CC 2015 with WebM plug-in to WebM files. And it worked. I am still in the process of converting them, but those that I have converted are playing just fine. Give me some time and I will have all of them converted for you. Apparently there was some problem with the format of your files. also, you should name them properly... without spaces and other weird extensions.

Eric,
This is the quick presentation with converted files: http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=ab00f845-afde-4683-8859-660e30184...

And these are the files: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s8o3tpkowojxf8b/AAATofkZGj39_rJRloqtTXf0a?dl=0

What I did there is New Placeholder>Properties>Content>Video Widget X6 (for each video).

Let me know if you can download the files. Apparently, something was wrong with your files' format.
