Video Turns Black Consistantly

The video turns black consistently. It plays for a duration then it turns black permanently and also turns black in-between videos. After a long period of blackness I save presentation and publish without changes and it comes back on, but goes black again.

I have tried every suggestion from Rise vision staff and the Cenique staff, changing my presentation with many different widgets and gadgets and still having the same issues. I have used .webm videos and mp4 videos and still having the same issues. I have designed more simple presentations with less videos and less widgets still no luck.  I have cleared the cache many times and this doesn't seem to work.

I have the Cenique  C110 player w3/ rise vision player version 4.0.7

Has anyone had any luck and i mean any luck with no black screen issues running video on their presentations?

Hi JB,
Is the video set to be looping? Also could you provide the preview of the presentation?

The black transition that you see is part of how the video widget works while in transition to the next video.

Hi HSuarez,
There are no controls for looping to be set as you can see below:

I have removed the multiple videos because we will probably only need one video showing at a time. The video works well it does have a slight black screen between loops and continues playing for about 5 - 8 minutes sometimes less, then turns black until we upload a new video.

On other video widgets the settings allowed for minute intervals (like 15 mins) but this one only allows date settings, duration settings and resume playing settings.

I have 2 cenique C110 players running the same presentation. They will both play the presentation, then one will go black and the other will continue to play. If I reboot the players at the same time they both start playing again and then the same thing happens again going black.

If I change the video and publish it, it runs the video for the same 5 - 8 mins then goes black again. This would be a problem if I were trying to run this video consistently 24/7.

The majority of the time we will be only changing the text and video at the same time and then publishing.

My concern is, if I have 50 of these players playing the presentation at the same time will they all show the same or will a few be black. I guess I will have to buy a few more players to test the consistency.

I wish I could include a text scroll that moves (left to right) not (scrolls up), but this one that (scrolls up) plays consistently without fail so far, where as the others have failed many times with different presentation configurations and different issues.

Thank you for your help.

Hi JB,

Thanks, you are on the right track with the tests - ie testing with one video and seeing if that works out.

Thanks for sending the link through, I've added my Display to your Schedule to see if there is a cross platform issue (ie not just Cenique). I am testing with Windows 10 Professional.

I haven't come across the black screen issue after the stated time (5-8 minutes). There is a black screen in between the videos, but this is expected since it's how the Video Widget works when it transitions between videos.

And to confirm, the issue is also happening on the Cenique Android Video Gadget?

Yes I have tested the Cenique android  video gadget  it disappears and freezes and doesn't restart.
I was told by Cenique to start using the current widgets that I am using.
I also tested the Video Widget with the same type of issues as the cenique gadget.

This Full Screen video Templet that I have customized, works how I want it to work, but it still has timing out issues and blacks out after a minute or two.  I need to press publish again to get it to start again and it starts.

Do you know why this happens is there a timer embedded in the video widget  that times out of the video after playing for a few seconds?

You Should be able to set the video to play continuously right?

Does it have something to do with the video saving to cache on the player it self that it times out and goes black?

I have the schedule still humming along on the test Display (on another OS - Win 10).

I've noticed that in one of the presentations containing the Cenique Android Video Gadget (Video, Text, Time and Date) it did not have looping enabled in the gadget settings when it was last saved. I've created another test Presentation containing both widget/gadget, with looping enabled in the gadget. It's called RV Test. Can you test this out on your device?

Thanks
Hannah

1st time playing
one of my screens plays both videos with no issues the other player shows the 1st video blacked out and the 2nd video continuously playing

It seems to me that the 1st video plays until it is finished or times out  and the other using the cenique gadget loops continuously playing no issues.

2nd time playing
I added time and scroll to it and it seems like it is doing the same timing out on the one video. As you can see from my pictures attached.

I have created a copy of my original and added both the cenique text scroll and cenique video  it works but doesn't change quickly  the way we need it to change. We need to change the data on both every 15mins everyday.

The time widget disappeared until I saved and published it again with out any changes. This is why cenique told me to use the video widget and text widget instead of their gadgets.

With the other video widget and the other txt scroll I have the timing out issues on the video but it changes and responds to our constant data changes quickly.

The biggest problem I have with the cenique video & Text gadgets is they do not communicate well. and the response time to change data or schedule is completely messed up. I try to change the video and it is stuck on a looped video and won't change.

I set a timer for it end and the video doesn't end. The test scroll cenique ended but a few minutes late.

I think will stick with the text widget that scrolls up and the other video full screen widget on my other presentation. They at lease responded quickly smoothly.

Thanks, I had a look at your most recent presentation and it looks like it already has the settings enabled that I was going to suggest (Cenique video gadget looping/cache enabled). Also that it's on the Android text scroller gadget.
Edit: I was in the middle of this reply then I saw the comment above. I am getting in touch with Cenique regarding the issues raised in this thread. Thanks!

Hello,

Please send us an email at support@cenique.com and we can assist you to get the video playing in your Presentation. In your email please provide the MAC ID or serial# of your Cenique media player.

Our current Cenique Android Rise Player App is compatible with the Rise Video Widget and the new Rise Editor. Prior versions of our app were compatible with the original Rise Editor and the Cenique Gadgets.
