Video Stops Playing after 5 Seconds

We have a presentation that runs an .mp4 video streaming from our web server.  I am seeing an issue with our Chromebox/RiseVision players where the  presentation loads but the video only plays for 5 seconds and then freezes.

I have the video set to play until done and have changed the resume if paused times but still get the freezing.  I have tried all of the different video widgets and also the HTML widget and used the <video> code to reference our file.  If I play the presentation from the Preview URL it plays without issue but as soon as I play it on one of our Chromeboxes the video freezes

DHS,

I wonder if the problem here is the mp4 file is not set up for streaming. Can you try converting that mp4 to a webm, which is designed for streaming, and let's see how it does as a webm?

You can find out more on converting to webm from here. My recommendation would be to use firefogg to convert to webm.

Let me know how you make out!

I do stream videos both mp4 and webm to Chromeboxes without any issues. All the problems related to video streaming I have came across recently were related mostly to videos not being optimized for this kind of application.

I can say that the video is created straight from a PowerPoint and then copied to a share on the web server.  that way our staff member can make changes to the video and upload without having to get into RiseVision

That's certainly fine, but I think the format that it is being exported in is MP4, which may be the problem. After it has been exported from Powerpoint, if you convert it to WebM, I think that may solve your issue.

That seems to work great!  Thanks for all of your help.  I created a nightly process that will convert the .MP4 to .webm with ffmpeg

They make changes to the PowerPoint everyday and export the video

Fantastic! I'm glad to hear it!
