When our video starts to play, the loading cirlce shows up for like half to one second along with the player bar at the bottom. If the video is cached, shouldn't this maybe only happen on the first play, then fine after that.
Anyone else have this problem or know of a way to fix it?
Thanks.

Hi Brian,
To confirm, are you currently using the new Video Widget? If so this is currently how the Widget operates prior to starting the video - it will briefly show a black screen with the loading circle before the video starts again.

I did not make the presentation, but most likely the new widget. I will confirm.
But will there ever be a way to get ride of that loading circle and player in the future?
Does this only happen at the start of the presentation?
So if i have 10 back to back videos, images, etc, only when it loops back does it show that player/loading circle?
Maybe i am just noticing it more on this test because i only have two 15 seconds videos back to back with a quick image. So every 30-40 seconds this loading shows up.

Brian,

We are aware of that loading animation, and we have work queued up to deal with it. We will be sure to announce to the community all our progress on this matter.

Thanks!

Hello,
something new on this topic? We are experiencing the same and we tried all possible video codecs/compression settings. We have now a webm video and the loading icon is still appearing, a fix would be highly welcome!

Hi Alain!

You're using the Video Widget, right? Our recent update to the Rise Cache platform would have helped with this, so if you can confirm that you are using the newest Video Widget, that would be great.

Thanks!

Dear Robb,

Thank you for you're answer. I am having the same issue than Alain.
I am currently using your website and when I open a presentation, there is an error message (see the joined image).

If I click "Open with classic editor", i have access to the old version of the interface, and there is no longer a way to add a video.
I have to select "CANCEL" to access to the new interface.
From here (see the joined image) I add a video in a presentation by clicking on the camera and selecting a file from the server.
Once the video is uploaded, the loading icon still appears.

Am I doing it the wrong way ?

Pauline,

That message is not an error message, it is just informing you that you are using a Video Item instead of the Video Widget.

Items and Gadgets that were previously available at https://rva.risevision.com are not supported at https://apps.risevision.com, and when you try to open a Presentation with a deprecated item or Widget at https://apps.risevision.com, you will see that dropdown message indicating that the Presentation needs to be opened at http://rva.risevision.com.

To replace the Video Item with the Video Widget, open your Presentation in the classic Editor (http://rva.risevision.com), and go to the Placeholder that has the Video Item. Video Items will look like this in your Presentation: https://goo.gl/wRLEx6. Copy the URL path to the video which is available in the Video Item Settings.

In that same Placeholder, select Add -> Content, and then select Video Widget. Click Add to add the Video Widget.

After adding the Video Widget, select Configure. Select “Custom URL”, and then paste the URL path to your Video: https://goo.gl/k3B2m9. After you have added the Video Widget, make sure to select the “Play Until Done” checkbox in the Playlist Item settings: https://goo.gl/bCHGSn

Save and Publish your Presentation, and then confirm that the Video Widget works as expected. Once you confirm it works, delete the Video Item from your Presentation. Once there are no deprecated Items or Gadgets in your Presentation, you will be able to edit it at https://apps.risevision.com.

Hopefully that will correct the issue you are seeing. Be sure to let me know how you make out!

Pauline and Alain,

I just wanted to update you both to let you know that we will soon be releasing improvements to the Video Widget to minimize the loading time. Look for those improvements in the coming weeks!
