I have a presentation with video. On all but our display PC the video shows just fine in a preview. On the new PC we bought for our display it just shows the spinning loading icon. Any setting or component I am missing?

Hi Hamid,

Please confirm that your network settings are set accordingly: https://help.risevision.com/user/advanced/display/network-requirements

Thanks!

Hamid,

Your larger video is not showing, correct?

Could you try compressing the size to see if this solves the issue for you?

I changed it to 640x480 from 1920x1080. File size went from 113MB to 42MB and it plays now. Is there a file size limit? I could create chunks if I knew what the limit was.

Hamid,

Is it possible that there are any network restrictions or timeouts that were preventing the Display from downloading the video?

There are no inherent limits that I am aware of with the Player, however I have seen larger videos sometimes work incorrectly due to their size, speed of the network, and possibly any network rules applied to the Player.

Thanks!

Yup... it was a brand new PC and I still had windows firewall on. Thanks!

Scratch that, it was a smaller video that showed up. Both are MP4. Small one is 8MB. Larger one is over 100MB. Ran a speed test on the display device and it shows 20Mb/s over wireless network. My wired network shows 80 Mb/s

Hamid, I've been working with another User who reported an issue similar to what you are describing. I'm not sure if the problems are identical, but we just put up a fix for that issue that might also resolve what you are seeing.

We need to QA the change internally before we release it, but have posted instructions to manually apply the fix immediately which you can find here, https://goo.gl/nEdivS.

Take a look and if you have any questions or need assistance please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks and look forward to your feedback!

Hamid,

Just wanted to make sure you saw my comment above...I am curious if there were any network restrictions or timeouts that were preventing the Display from downloading the video.

I look forward to hearing from you!

thanks for the reply. there are not any limitations of the network I am aware of. Other machines seem to work fine. It seems the only difference is the wireless network though. I did let it sit for about an hour. I thought maybe the player needed to pull the full video across before playing. But it still didn't work.
