Video API

Something i wanted to ask and something that could be useful for developers. As it stands most everyone has one option for the video player. Thats using the video gadget which uses jwplayer. The issue with jwplayer is there is some bugs to it that android webview and  other browsers doesnt like. I know jwplayer is heavily integrated in the system, but why not have it to where developers can use a simple api that can use the same caching for there own video widgets/gadgets. There are things that others would like to do with video but are limited to just this one player because its the only thing thats able to cache. Now for me i can probably make something for my devices but I'm only hitting android only. I would like to be able to make something for all platforms. If anything a Video API to allow this would be great.

William I think that is a great initiative. By no means am I a programmer, but have great interest in taking advantage of the GPU processing for Raspberry Pi in order to play video with this device. I understand that Rise Vision Partners could be of assistance, but in this case my concern is the cost/time for custom code and do I repeat this process for every new Rise version/upgrade? I think that your suggestion could open a door to better solutions for many devices and wanted to voice my support and encourage others to see the possibilities. Thanks!
