I am using an Intel Compute Stick with Windows 10, Rise Player starts but then presentation goes black. The same presentation is working fine on another screen but with a MAC mini as the media player.  I have turned off all notifications as suggested by others using Windows 10.  I've shut the firewall OFF for now to see if that was the problem. Still nothing.  Any suggestions ?   I need to pull the MAC mini off line and replace with the Intel Compute Stick.

Hi David,

Is this the display named "Guardhouse"? If so, I'm seeing that this display is offline. Could you ensure that it has an active network connection?

Guardhouse is up now. It is the Intel Compute Stick.  Guardhouse &  Entrance are running the Same presentation, or at least supposed to be.  I'm going to pulling Entrance offline which is the Mac Mini and replacing with Guardhouse.

What's in the presentation? Notifications or firewall has nothing to do with that. I actually keep all the default security settings (strongly recommended) and still never had any 'black screen presentation' problems on any of my Intel Sticks. Is there a video playing?

Just Images.  Rotating messages in image form.

My other thouth is it could be poor WiFi signal. Intel sticks have not-so-good wifi adapters installed. I am using a USB hub/Etherned port adapter and keep my sticks wired. U can also try USB WiFi adapter with antena, wich would be a huge improvement compared to the stock adapter.

The wireless internet connection is good, in fact it's sitting just 4 ft from the Wireless router. So that doesn't seem to be the problem.  When I re-install it where it's supposed to go, it will only be about 6 ft. from the Wireless.

David, and you are using the Image Widget not the gadget, right? If this is the case then I cannot think of anything else. I would need to look at your presentation and the device. Well, I cannot  look at the device, but you could copy the entire HTML code of your presentation and email it to me. I would make a copy of your presentation and see how it does on my Intel Stick device. By the way, which one is that, the newer or older model?

I guess it's the Image Gadget, the one that comes up in the dropdown box when I add to the presentation.  Never had a problem with it.  I do have a weather Widget in the presentation, but has always worked as well.

My thought is, I'm creating the presentation on a MAC and up until now, has been run on  MACs.   That's all I use here.  But a Mac Mini is too expensive to be wasted on just running a sign board, so I'm pulling it to use something less expensive.  It, might be the OLDER Intel Compute stick, only has one USB port.  I just bought it last week.

When I PREVIEW the presentation on Windows 10, it works just fine.  But not in the player.  Also I noticed when I open the presentation on Windows 10, it tells me I have to edit in Classic Editor ???

Wondering if I recreate the Presentation on the Windows platform, if it would make a difference ?

I can certainly email you the HTML.

David, it works on MAC and previews fine because the software is different from what Rise Vision Player App for Windows is. I understand is hard to switch from the old editor, but do yourself a favor, become friends with the new editor and start using their new widgets because RV is designing their environment around it, and you gonna start getting more and more issues with the 'old ways' as they progress even further. So, try replacing your old image gadget with the Image Widget and see how it goes from there.

Open the same presentation in the new editor, go to your image placeholder, delete the gadget and add the Image Widget from RV store (it is free), set it up and you should be fine.

You definitely have some old gadgets in there, this is why you are getting this notice. You cannot edit old gadgets in the new editor.

And yes, you have the older model, which is totally fine for the basic signage. I am using older models for even a bit more complicated presentation without any major problem.

I SEE.....Will give it a shot.  Will create a new version of the display on the Windows 10 Platform.

I tried converting the gadgets with Image widgets and added an HTML Widget for a weather web page.  That didn't work, but again, I'm using the Mac to edit the presentation.  Worked fine on the MAC.

Will report back after I Re-Create the presentation using the Windows 10 platform editor.  See if it makes a difference.

Thanks for helping me trouble shoot this issue.

David, MAC or noMAC that makes no difference for the online editor. You can also try adding stuff there slowly just to see what might be 'breaking' your presentation. Try using just Images first... one widget. If it works, add another one. And so on. Lastly add that HTML Widget... I am a bit suspicious of it )))

Well, that didn't work either.  I re-created the Presentation and removed the Web Page & HTML Gadget, so now only 4 Image Gadgets in the presentation.  Still No Go.

David, get rid of all the gadgets you have there. Replace them with widgets. RV has the Image Widget.

I did that.  I said Gadgets, but meant Widgets.  Using the NEW Image Widget.  Created it in the NEW editor and everything.

David, could you copy the entire HTML of that presentation paste it in some text document and email it to me @ d.aleksas@mail.com. I would take a look at it and push it to one of my Intel Sticks to see if anything is wrong with it.

David,  Not sure if this applies to your situation so you may ignore at your discretion.
I had a device that would go black after it booted. I was setting up a 60" TV and was using the USB from the TV to power the device.  I switched to the power supply provided & it runs fine.

David, I have received your email and made my copy of your presentation. It works fine on my PC in preview mode. Right now I am setting up the Stick to test it, and while doing so decide to ask you to check the power settings. Both display and the device must be set to 'NEVER' never go to sleep. Also, Windows 10 by default have Lock and Log In Screens enabled. Those must be disabled.

David, so here is what I have. Your presentation, as you sent it to me, is working fine on my Intel Stick (older model). So there is nothing wrong with it and it should be playing on yours too. Now, apparently there is a problem with your device (settings) or your network. I cannot diagnose the network problems, but I could take a look at your device remotely. For that you would need to install 'Chrome Remote Desktop' or Team Viewer (client) App.

Also, have you installed the newest Rise Vision App off their website? Did you make sure it is 32bit version?

We figured it out. The device was 'contaminated' with the old Chrome Rise Vision App thru the Google account. The device cannot have two instances of the same RV application. We decided to reset the device and start over again from the clean slate.
I also recommend to everyone removing unsupported old Rise Vision App from Google Apps from your Google account... unless you are Chromebox fan, then keep it )))
