Is it possible to implement a way so lets say if i have a folder of images for rise to show that image folder? A bit like the rise image folder works but for any alternative storage.

Thanks

Gartree,

If your images are being served elsewhere, then you won't be able to use the Image Folder Widget. At this time, there are no alternative content options for you. You may be able to set up a slideshow on a website, then use the Web Page Widget to display that slideshow, but you're talking about a lot of work there.

Rise Storage really does make things easy, especially for the price!

Hi Blake

The price of storage is next to nothing however there are issues with it.

All the images have to be published "online" so they are publicly accessible which as a school means we can have problems with some pupils not having consent for pictures going on the website but we can use any of the pupils pictures internally. So if we put them into your storage then we are obviously breaking contracts which parents have signed as the pictures are going online. This is the same for businesses who want to show there company private details.

What i do at the moment is put all the pictures into a powerpoint and then export the powerpoint as an mp4 and place the video into the internal iis server we set up. Only problem now is that the video widget is being discontinued and i now have to convert the videos to webm.

Thanks

Our 'slideshow managers' use the Photo Album widget to control the varied content of their own campuses' slideshow images by using Picasa to tie into their Google accounts.

That tie-in lets these 'slideshow managers' from different campuses choose the images that play on the slideshows on their own campus by managing that tied-in "public on the web" Picasa folder. They're able to manage their campuses' slideshow's content without our involvement. They love this automation and control.

Is there going to be an option to replicate this self-management of image slideshow content after the Photo Album widget is gone? Or will RV storage now be the only repository that works with whatever the next Photo Album will be named?

Thanks,
Robert

Robert,

The only information that I have on the Photo Album widget is that it is slated for deprecation. I believe that Alan has provided you with the information he has in the deprecation thread as well.

If the Photo Album Gadget is key to your presentations, you are free to take the open source code from the gadget and host it yourself. The repo containing the code is located here.

Thanks Blake.

I'm not a programmer though. And I know getting a hosted widget to work is not just a matter of simply copying those folders from github over to my web server.

Do you know of a tutorial that would show one how to prepare these files from github so that  this hosted version of the Photo Album widget would work the same for us as the soon-to-be-deprecated Photo Album widget currently on RV does?

Thanks much,
Robert
