Since you guys are killing off Embedded presentations, I went to use the Video widget (Hoping that all the issues were fixed that caused us hassle previously) and when I enter the URL for the video folder it tells me I must link directly to the video file.

How do I use a custom URL to a Folder?

Hi Glencoe Glen,
To refer to a video folder in the Video Widget, you can use the 'Folder of Videos' option.
I also tried adding a the link to my folder of Videos via the custom URL link which may work so long as I select 'Remove Validation'. But I'd recommend going with the 'Folder of Videos' option in the video widget.

As we have 7 different presentations (They change daily) that require the same content, we were previously using an additional presentation that had each video added individually to it with a direct URL to our internal server with the videos.

However, since you guys are getting rid of Embedded presentations, that's not going to work anymore. And I certainly won't be manually adding 6-10 videos to each of the 7 presentations at the start of the month. Again, defeats the purpose of having an 'easy solution'.

Hi Glen, in order to show a Folder of Videos from a 3rd party server the Video Widget would need to be able to work with that server to be able to play videos reliably. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as just pointing the Widget to a Folder.

Given this, and that it is not possible for us to support all the various server configurations that exist, we only support showing a Folder of Videos from Rise Storage.

Can you can explain the issues you are having with Rise Storage that prevents you from using that, and then leveraging the Folder of Videos feature with the Video Widget?

As for Embedded Presentations, you are more than welcome to continue using them at https://rva.risevision.com until a replacement is available.

Thanks!

We had numerous issues with videos loading correctly. Individually and with the Folder option.

You guys were working on a fix a few months ago, but I never went back to using the Storage as when everything is working, I don't tend to change it. But I'm kind of being forced to since you guys are changing how things work yet again.

I also tried uploading the videos back to our storage, but as it's under a different Sub company, I also was not able to link to that Storage URL. We have no intention of paying $10/mo extra to host 5-10mb worth of videos just to use that option.

Sorry Glen. Could you please clarify on the following statement,

"I'm kind of being forced to since you guys are changing how things work yet again."

We never supported showing a Folder of Videos from a 3rd party server so I'm confused as to what change you are referring to.

If you use Rise Storage let me know if you encounter any issue. While I'm unable to help with budget constraints - wish I could :) , I will make it a priority to fix any issue you encounter playing a video from Rise Storage using our Windows or Linux Player.

Thanks!

Per my original post, we are currently using Embedded Presentations to make this happen, and you guys are getting rid of them so I have to find an alternate way to accomplish this. Doesn't look like the Video widget is going to help either. back to the drawing board.
