Upload to Storage from URL

Currently I'm using an old VPS for static content but I just started a Rise Storage trial to more tightly integrate things.

When I'm building a sign I sometimes source content from a company's web site. Sometimes it's a lot of icons and other images. Usually what I do is just use wget or curl on my storage server to pull large amounts of static images directly in.

Downloading then uploading them can be quite tedious. It would be nice if the Upload option in Storage included a way to pass a URL to source content from so I could have my Storage download an image directly from the web.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the idea! At the moment it's a web-based interface.
When you wget/curl the files in, you can allocate them all under the one parent folder and then use that to upload on to Storage using the 'Upload Folder' option. It's not the same but could be useful to upload files in one go.

Apologies in the delay answering you Yannick. At this time we don't have an example, however would taking a peak at the code for this operation work? You can see it here: https://github.com/Rise-Vision/rise-vision-apps/tree/master/web/scripts/storage/services.

Does that help?

I am able to update content in the Core API (using OAuth 2), but when I try to update content in the Storage API, I get a "No user" message. Are the credentials somehow not carrying over to the Storage API?

Biagio,

I believe you asked the same question here, so we can work on the answer in that conversation. Thanks!

Yes, thanks for adding the link. I wasn't sure if anyone would see the comment since the original post was from 11 months ago, so I made a new post the next day. Glad you did see it!
