Hi there, new user. Mac OS 10.8.5  Chrome is up to date. When trying to upload jpgs to Storage it just hangs and says 'requesting permssion'.  I made sure the file name has no spaces or weird characters. I also tried creating a new Risevision google account and have the same issue with that one.  Cleared Caches and cookies.  Still no luck.

Also sometimes it doesn't say 'requesting permission', it's just blank after Upload Status. I assume there is supposed to be a progress bar there?

Hi Eugene,

Can you try clearing your browser's cache to see if that corrects what you're seeing?

If not, we've only tested uploads using Mavericks, and not earlier versions of OS X.  Would it be possible for you to update your operating system to the latest and try again?

Thanks.

Hi Neal, thanks for getting back to me, yes, I've tried clearing cache and cookies. I do have another Mac with Mavericks I can try, I also have a PC and will try that too.  That was next on my list of things to try.  I will keep you updated.  Any plans to have this work with Google Drive?

I also use Chrome Boxes for my players, so I was going to try uploading from one of them too.

The main stumbling block with integrating with Google Drive is that they may lock out the files if they deem they are being accessed too frequently.

Please let us know of the outcome involving the other computes.

Thanks.

Tired two different Macs running both OSX 10.9.5 and OSX 10.10.1 with no luck. I'd rather not have to use an outside service anyway, but if I did, we are just running posters in a movie theater with static JPEGs on them that will change every few weeks so not a lot of access but as I said, would like to keep it all within the app.

Eugene, did you perform all these test from the same network? Is there any type of web filter setup on the network? Can you try another network you know is open?

Eugene,

Is there a firewall, or proxy that might be blocking communication with Rise Storage.  You can get an overview of what sites are needed here.

Hi guys, it's our own network and its wide open, I also tried from my home this morning, same issue. The link you sent deals with the displays, those have no issues. I am able to connect to my player and upload the sample content, green heartbeat and all. Only issue is with uploading to storage.

Can you try revoking access to Rise Storage and trying again? You'll need to go to https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions?pli=1. Once there, highlight the Rise Vision option and press the Revoke access button to the right.
Once that's done, can you please go back to storage and follow the prompts to allow access?  You can then try uploading a file then.

Thanks.

Ok. I will be back in tomorrow and will try. Really appreciate all the help. We're doing the av for a new theater chain called Flix, and are excited to use rise for the signage but need to get it working first, lol.

Ok.... it's working now but let me tell you what I did:

I logged into the RiseVision site on one of my Asus ChromeBoxes. I went to storage to try and upload an image, lo and behold it took me to my google drive folder (in the cloud not on the box).  So it's letting me upload to RiseVision storage from my Google drive.  That's actually pretty cool because I can drop images in from anywhere into my google drive and access them from RiseVision on the ChromeBox. I tested uploading a new image from my Mac Pro to my Google Drive folder and I was them able to upload that image to Storage on the ChromeBox.
Ok, so at this point I'm thinking, I just give my client a ChromeBox and make that his RiseVision 'workstation' which is a dooable solution.

Now here's where it gets interesting... I go back to my Desktop mac running OS 10.8.5, log into RiseVsion and try uploading an image off my hard drive to Storage.... can you guess what happened????  Yea, it works fine now.
Any idea what might have happened? Seems like having it work on the Chromebox cleared out the pipes and got it working.

Another update, also able to upload from home on a Mac Book Air running 10.6.8 (ya, Im old skool like that). So it works even with older versions of the OS, doesn't have to be Mavricks.

Hi Eugene,

We did roll back an update we had done recently. Its possible that this update was the culprit causing the problems for you.  We apologize for any frustration that incurred.

Thanks.

hmmm... well that a pretty big coincidence, when exactly did you do the roll back?  I got it working around 3pm yesterday.  Also, Safari works too, don't just have to use Chrome.
I wonder if some of the other people that were having the same issue are ok now. Have you received any other reports of it working for other people?

The rollback was completed just before 5pm Eastern.

If this was after you were able to get it running, did you by chance add a spreadsheet based Gadget, or a Bulletin Widget to your Presentation in the meantime? Its possible that in the process of adding either of these particular pieces of content, that a permission was allowed for Rise Storage to work.

Thanks.

Neither of those, but as I said, I did log in from the Chrombox and got that working first.  And that sort of coincides with when I started trying it again, around 3pm.  So it's possible it was the roll back.  Either way, thanks for all your help Neal.
