Time Start of Animated Presentations

I have a master presentation that is reading child presentations as part of its display. These child presentations change on an almost daily basis. A couple of the presentations are animations. My problem is, I can't find a way to coordinate the presentation so that the beginning of the animation happens at the same time as the beginning of that presentation's display. I want the animation to happen as the slide shows up, so it can run completely through before moving on.

I know that I can add a script to set a fixed reload interval, but due to the changing number of child presentations and variable duration of the master presentation, that interval would have to be recalculated often, which takes time and increases the odds of error. I'm hoping for a way to send a refresh call to the animation right before its slide is due to show up.

Does anybody have any solutions or ideas on how to solve an issue like this?

Thanks for any help!

Heidi,

This is a bit of a doozy! It sounds like you're in the realm of some custom-code, as our built in scheduling doesn't do what you're asking for.

Could I get a link to preview the presentation you're currently working on? That will give us a little better idea of what we're dealing with here.

Thanks!

Here's the link from my browser window. Let me know if you need a link from another source. Thanks!

I found a workaround for one of the issues. With the animated GIF, I ended up loading the Image Folder widget and using the GIF's URL. This starts the animation as the slide is loading.

I still would love to answer the question though, as we also have a custom-built Twitter feed that we'd like to reload about 1.25 seconds before the slide shows.

Thanks!

Maybe add <meta http-equiv="refresh" content=".5"> to the <head> of your HTML page.

This way, the page is always refreshing every .5 seconds before it is loaded on your presentation.

I have also tried using the meta refresh trick, but I don't want the content to refresh while it's being shown.

Thanks!

Thank you, but again, I'm looking for a way to refresh the feed before the slide loads, not after, or when there's new tweets, or anything else. None of these seem to be able to do that. I'll keep looking for a solution. Thanks!

Heidi,

You can try creating a dummy item with a refresh interval set inside of it. So a blank page with a refresh code before the slide loads.

Thanks!
