Synchronize multiple RSS feeds

Hi

I am feeding multiple simple dynamic RSS feeds that I am generating on my own server.
The RSS feeds are short and simple with a few characters each.

I set ALL the feeds on an identical Refresh rate and Transition settings.

in the player the RSS feeds do not refresh at the same rate and they all start to blink each at its own frequency.
It is clear that each feed has its own refresh rate because some feeds "catch up" and then "overtake" other feeds.

for my application it is very important for ALL the feeds to be in perfect sync.

Pls advise how to get to a perfect sync.

Thanks,

Eyal

Hi Eyal,
I had a look to try to find the presentation or schedule that you are working on for the multiple RSS feeds.  Do you have the presentation ID / company ID or name at hand?

Thanks

Eyal,
Really sorry about this - so I have been able to find a preview of the ID but I cannot find the Company ID to go with that presentation.  Can you also please supply this?  it'll be the numbers/letters after ?cid= in the URL.

Thanks

I manages to "solve" the problem by not using Transitions, however, I would like to use transitions for a more dynamic display.
The presentation that you will see is test- bench at this stage

Hi,

I keep experiencing the ongoing issue of multiple RSS feeds that are not in sync.

KIndly advise how I can solve this issue.

I can provide you with two such screens that I have made.
Those are basically "monitoring" screens for QA, however, the production product can also have anywhere between 6 - 30 RSS feeds on each screen and it is important for the RSS feeds to be in Sync.

Thanks,

Eyal

Hi Eyal,
Which presentation are you currently working on, and do these also have the Transitions also?

Thanks!

Hi Hanna,

I have in the mean-time migrated from RSS to HTML widgets, in part thanks to the advise of your colleague Ashleigh related to another RSS related problem.
I also implemented an internal function (different than the one that Ashleigh recommended) to synchronize the refresh of the widgets ALL at the same split second.
The performance seems a bit better, however, still having similar problems where the HTML widgets on the screen are still not in sync.

Important - In our server logs I can clearly see that indeed ALL the inquiries were received and replied to ALL the widgets simultaneously at the same second.

I have reduced the number of widgets to 10 with no success.
The content in each widget is just a few digits or characters, so nothing heavy.

I increased the refresh frequency from 10sec to 5 sec; this reduced the lagging from 10-14 seconds to 3-6 second and does not solve the problem.

Is there an internal RV limit on the number of widgets on the same page to simultaneously perform the same task?

Is there an internal caching on RV servers that delays the delivery of information to the widgets?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Eyal

Hi Hanna,

Problem solved.

URL is definitely better than RSS.
We identified the reason why some items showed up later than others; it was in our code; two different triggers.

Working now perfectly.

Thanks a lot,

Eyal
