This FAQ covers some of the common questions users have asked in our community regarding sub-companies. If there is anything we didn’t cover don’t hesitate to post your question in the comments.

How do I create a sub-company?
To create a sub-company click your company name in the top right corner. Click Add sub-company and fill out the details.

How do I move between companies?
To navigate between sub-companies click select sub-company, which will present you with a list of sub-companies in your account. You can also search for specific sub-companies using the search bar. Then, to get back to your main company, click the switch to my company link.

Do users in sub-companies, have access to parent company?
No. Users in the sub-companies can only view their company or the companies below them.

Can the main company storage subscription be used for the sub-companies underneath or do we have to buy separate subscription for each sub-company?
You will need to buy a storage subscription for each company.

Is there any way to move a presentation from one of my sub companies to the parent company?
There is not. The easiest way to do this would be to copy the HTML from the sub-company's presentation into a new presentation in the parent company.

If the parent company creates a presentation template and layout; is there a way to share with your sub-companies or customers?
If you click the cog icon in a presentation of the parent company, you can check the "template" box. Make sure you save and publish your presentation for this to take effect. Afterwards, you can access presentations on your sub-company, and click add from template, the presentation should appear there.

Can I limit my sub-companies to only see certain items in the store?
At this time there is no functionality to do that.

How can I move my displays and schedules to a sub-company from my main company?
There is no way to move Displays and Schedules to a Sub Company, you will have to recreate them in that Sub Company.

Can sub-companies have sub-companies?
Sub-companies can have sub-companies.

Could you clarify this? I'm doing this already by making a presentation item in the main company and adding the presentation id of the sub company by hand.

Hi Ben,

What I mean by this is that if you want to take a sub-companies presentation and copy it into your main company you would need to copy the HTML code from the sub-company presentation and paste it into a new presentation in the main company.

Sorry that FAQ question could have been clearer. It should be phrased "Is there a way to move a presentation from a sub-company to my parent company?"

I am going to edit that.

Thanks,
Shea

Is there a way to create an Alert in the main company and then make it so that alert goes to the sub-companies as well?

We use E2Campus and I set up an alert to go to the displays as we have them now. I am in the process of creating sub-companies for different departments so they can manage only the presentations we want them to manage. If we send out a general alert from E2Campus, is there a way to make that alert go to all the sub-company displays as well? Or does that happen from the main company?

Francis,

Alerts require the Web Service URL, which is unique to each Company. To my knowledge, E2Campus only allows you to send a CAP Alert to one Web Service URL at a time. You would have to follow up and test with E2Campus, but if they allowed multiple Web Service URL's to be entered for a CAP Alert, I think that would work.

You would need to have Alerts set up in your Sub Companies, which would give you their unique Web Service URL. You would also have to set up an Alerts Presentation in those Companies, and the Displays you want them to be sent on, which is usually All.

That way, you send the CAP Alert to those multiple Web Service URL's, and they should all see that same Alert.

Again, we never tested this, and you would have to confirm with E2Campus, but I think that should work. Let us know how you make out!

Prakash,

Just so I understand, you want to move an existing Company to become a Sub Company under you? Is that right?

If that is the case, you can follow these steps:
  1. Go to https://apps.risevision.com, and log into the Company that you want to move. Click on your image in the top right corner, and select Company Settings.
  2. In the Company Settings, copy the Authentication Key.
  3. Now go to the Company that you want the first Company to be under. Click on your image again, and select Add Sub Company.
  4. Select the option at the bottom: "Move A Company Under your Company".
  5. Enter the Authentication Key of the Company that you want to move, and follow the steps to move it.

I hope that helps!

No problem Prakash!

When you are logged into that Sub Company, on the Company Settings page you will see a Delete button. Press that, and then follow the steps to delete the Company.

Be careful you don't delete the wrong Company, as deleted Companies, their Presentations, Schedules, and Displays can't be recovered.

Thanks!
