Step by step scheduling

Is there someplace with step by step scheduling instructions?  I can't seem to get this right.  Here is an example.

I have two monitors with two different schedules.  I have multiple presentations that could show on either monitor.

On Friday, on one monitor, I tried to set up the following.
Presentation 1)  Video plug-in that showed every Mon - Sat.
Presentation 2)  Slide show that showed every Sun.
Presentation 3)  Slide show that showed every Mon - Sat STARTING the following Monday.

On Friday, the videos would show, but then the screen would go blank for 90 seconds (I figured it was either my Sunday slide show or the Mon - Sat slide show that was supposed to start the following Monday).  I took out the Monday slide show, but that didn't solve the problem.

The only way I could get the monitors to NOT have 90 seconds of blank screen was to only have one Presentation assigned to them.

I need a different presentation on Sundays and don't want to have to manually change every Sunday & Monday morning.

Thanks in advance - or for any suggestions on where to find answers to this.

O'Bryan,

All information regarding scheduling is here.

For the video placeholder do you have play until done selected, or is there a set duration?

Blake - that documentation really didn't help with making this work I'm sorry to say.  There are 3 places, that I've seen so far, where you can set up scheduling and I don't know what makes what work and can't tell with the documentation.  I was hoping someone in the community really explained it in a step by step way.

Video was set to play until done.

As I see it, the 3 places you can set up a schedule are on...
  1. Presentation
  2. Schedule - Main
  3. Schedule - Presentation line entry
Here is what I would like to have happen..
  1. I want Presentation A (movies) to show on monitor 1 & 2, Mon - Sat only.
  2. Presentation B (slide show) on monitor 1, Sunday only.
  3. Presentation C (slide show) on monitor 1, starting next Monday.
  4. Presentation D (slide show) on monitor 2, Sunday only.
  5. Presentation E (slide show) on monitor 2, Mon - Sat only.
I hope that helps clear up what I want to do.

O'Bryan,

You scheduling should be very simple. As you noted, there are three different places that you can schedule. You can essentially accomplish the same things with any of them, however in your case (multiple presentations) I suggest this route.

  • Access the 'Schedules' tab at the top of rva.risevision.com
  • Create a schedule named for each presentation
  • Presentation A's timeline should look like this -

  • Presentation A's distribution should be set to both displays.
  • Presentation B's timeline should have only Sunday selected, if you want to to play every Sunday, then select no end date.
  • Presentation B's distribution should be set to monitor 1 only.
  • Presentation C's timeline should be set to start on 03/02/15, if you don't want it to end, select no end date, and select daily.
  • Presentation C's distribution should be set to monitor 1 only.
  • Presentation D's timeline should have only Sunday selected, if you want to to play every Sunday, then select no end date.
  • Presentation D's distribution should be set to monitor 2 only.
  • Presentation E's timeline should be set to weekly, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday selected.
  • Presentation E's distribution should be set to monitor 2 only.
I hope I haven't confused you too much! If all else fails, we do offer premium support on a subscription basis. One of our technicians would be happy to get into your schedules and get it set up right away!

Final clarification -

1)  Set the schedule on the presentations themselves.

2)  On the Schedule, I can only add one schedule for each monitor.  Do I add all 3 presentations that should show on each monitor (A, B & C to Monitor 1 / A, D & E to Monitor 2) and not touch the schedule part of the presentation on the schedule?

3)  The first time I published all of the presentations to work at any time on any monitor (in case I changed my mind where/when I wanted them) and then tried to use the schedule page for when they displayed, but that was when I was getting "blank" time.

I believe we have already purchased support, but still can't seem to get it right.  We have two different people working on this and I'm supposed to take over.  If I'm still getting it wrong, I'll work with a technician.

O'Bryan,

You'll be setting the schedule on the Schedules tab. Create an individual schedule for each presentation, then assign those schedules dates and displays. I wouldn't even mess with presentation or placeholder scheduling for this. I believe this is the easiest path to accomplish what you want.
