Hi

I have a problem for one of my clients. I have created a menu board with a background and two spreadsheetwidgets (different size of fonts) in different placeholders that are connected to the same spreadsheet but use different columns. Especially when you changed anything in column B it will not change it on the screen without a manual update. I use an API Key to decrease the update interval to 1 minute. The customer has temporarily stop using column B because it does not work.

Jan,  I am just guessing... I suppose the B column has digits in it. Have you tried playing with 'formatting' settings?

Also I am not sure why would you need 2 separate instances of the Sheets Widget. You could just used one for both columns.

But if you really need two, then try putting the content of the B column on the separate sheet.

All that assuming that you got all the other crucial widget settings right.

Janne,

I believe Darius is correct. I made a copy of your presentation and spreadsheet. I selected column B and I clicked Format > Clear Formatting. I then entered text into the cells and they began appearing. I believe this sheet may have had some custom formatting that the Spreadsheet Widget didn't agree with.

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately I do not believe it solves my problems. The proposal I thought most of was to create a separate spreadsheet for column B, but unfortunately no result.

My problem is that it almost always requires manual triggers (Preview, Publish) to column B / Placeholder 2 for the change to appear. When I use manual triggers it works every time, Preview for Preview :-) / Publish for "Live screen".

I have to use two placeholders, see screenshot. Placeholder 1 and 2 are almost identical, the only difference is the size of the font.

Been thinking about my API key (1 min), but it always works for column A / Placeholder 1

Best regards
Janne

Janne, this is interesting one. I have a couple of presentations with multiple Sheets Widgets using the same API key and pulling info from the same Sheets file. And I get nothing like that. I bet there is something about the way you set this presentation-sheet thing... Sometimes weird things happen too, and to make sure that it is not it you could try re-creating the same presentation from the beginning. Also try creating brand new API key and use it in your new presentation. The other week I was not able to use any new API keys I was creating that day, as they were getting rejected by the widget (the old keys worked, though). I came back to it the following day, created new API key and it worked. There was something wrong going on Google's side. Finally, try using different API keys for each widget. I would be glad to help you our more, but for that I am gonna need the entire presentation's HTML code (email: prodo.us@mail.com). Otherwise, good luck.

Janne,

I have the same recommendation as Darius, try recreating the same Presentation with a new API Key, and see if that has the same issue as this one.

Let us know how you make out!

Hello Darius and Robb
Thanks for great help, I got many good ideas. I have done some tests with new presentations including two separate new API keys. The problem still remains, it occurs most when to change or delete the text in column B, meaning that the old text still remains. http://preview.risevision.com/?type=presentation&id=a4559d53-04a2-4a69-bee0-a14698dc3a56

Have some thoughts on the creation of API keys, it does not look like the description in the community, steps 3. https://community.risevision.com/rise_vision_inc/topics/how-to-generate-an-api-key-for-the-google-sp...

It looks like this instead, the only selectable option under the "What data will you be accessing?" is the "User Data" and then creating a client ID instead. Which means it is not possible to create an API key from there.

I have instead manually created two API keys, but get a strange error message even though I know it works for column A and in some cases for column B

Darius, I send the code to you by email. Thanks again for the great help.

Best regards
Janne

Jan, ignore the difference and simply click on 'API Key'

I did some testing and I can say that there is nothing wrong with the presentation itself. The problems are coming from Google's direction. I cannot tel what it is. Perhaps some problems creating API keys or account... I cannot know for sure.

I did not change anything in the presentation, except color coded the text for testing purposes. What I did, I created new Google Sheets file with 3 columns, one for each widget used, and I created new API Key, which I used for all 3 widgets. And it worked just fine; updated as set, within 1min.
