speadsheet widget scroll issue

I'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong of if it's a shortcoming of the process.  I'm using the spreadsheet widget to scroll a facility schedule. As the day progresses, the events that have ended are removed from the google drive file that the spreadsheet widget references (every half hour).  So, for example, the day starts with 90 events and it takes 2 minutes to scroll through the entire schedule.  By the end of the day, there are 10 events and the widget scrolls those 10 events but once it is at the end, instead of pausing for the time configured in the widget (5 seconds) then going back to the top of the schedule, it pauses for close to 2 minutes.  Patrons believe it to be stuck at the end of scrolling.  Doing a manual refresh of the display, will fix the issue but I can't do a manual refresh every day, every half hour.  Is there something i'm missing or something I can add to have it scroll through a shortening schedule and not have it pause for a lengthy amount of time at the end of the scroll, late in the day, after many line items have been removed from the spreadsheet file?

Hi Wilmette Park,

Could you please paste a link here to your presentation?
here's the link http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=d7a97efe-ec12-4878-8736-e4863afc6...

if you look at it at 9am central and keep it open and don't manually refresh the page, as the hours go by, items come off the schedule (reducing the number of items that need to be scrolled) and when the continuous scroll reaches the bottom, it "sticks" for longer than the spreadsheet widget configured time.

Hi Wilmette,

Just checking to see if I understand, are you editing the spreadsheet throughout the day, deleting rows manually as the day progresses?  If so, have you tried the Calendar widget?
I'm exporting a file from 3rd party software onto a computer that has google drive installed.  so whenever the file gets exported to the computer (roughly every half hour), the drive file gets updated.  While i'm not manually deleting rows as the day progresses, in essence, yes, rows are being removed from the exported file.  As the day goes on, the exported file doesn't include events that have finished.  I have not tried the calendar widget but i'm guessing that would be manual entry stuff and i'm looking for complete automation with no user interaction.  Can you confirm the issue i'm having where, as the day goes by and the spreadsheet has less rows, the pause at the end of the continuous scroll grows longer?

Wilmette, when you say end, or late in the day, I assume that means about now.  I am not seeing a long pause at the end but I also have not been running it all day.  If I see that happen after a few hours I will let you know.
No manual refresh or clicking on the presentation link to reopen it.  doing either of those, will fix the issue.  But i'm looking for it to work without having to do a manual refresh or link click.  if you have had the presentation open for the past 1 hour, a google drive file update just occurred so you should be getting an extended pause at the end.

Wilmette, looking at the presentation right now, it stops at the end for about 35 seconds, so it is taking longer than it did when I first started it.

This may be due to the way you are updating the Google Spreadsheet.  I'm just curious if you have seen this same phenomena when you do not update the spreadsheet, or if you manually update it.
ok, thank you for the confirmation.  I will test not updating the spreadsheet and also manually updating the spreadsheet to see if i still get the same phenomena.  I'll let you know what i find probably on Monday.
Not updating the spreadsheet does not produce the phenomena.  manually updating the file on google drive also does not produce the phenomena.  The auto updating is a little more than just exporting a file that gets synced to google drive.  I'm running a script in a google spreadsheet that uses that exported file as an input.  The 2nd sheet of that google spreadsheet is what is referenced by the spreadsheet widget in the presentation.  Any other thoughts/questions/things to try in light of this information?  Thanks for the help.

Wilmette, I am really not sure, I haven't seen anybody update their spreadsheets in that manner before.  The only other thing I have seen that is even remotely similar is somebody importing XML data into a Google spreadsheet and they had issues, although not the same as yours.  The function used in the Google spreadsheet appeared to be a Google bug that Google was aware of but had not corrected.
