Software Updater- hangs display

We have a display, running the Rise Intel NUC, which seems to continually get "hung". You can see (from the screen cap), that it looks like the Software Updater is trying to run. This requires that we hook up a keyboard\mouse, and manually reboot. Can you please let me know if this is normal and\or if there is a fix to this?

Hi Chris,

This is normal for Ubuntu. We have a method of getting rid of all system updates, it's coming in our new version of documentation, but I won't make you wait :)

  1. Open terminal
  2. Type sudo mv /usr/bin/update-notifier /usr/bin/update-notifier.real and press enter
  3. Type sudo gedit /asr/bin/update-notifier and press enter
  4. Add two lines to this document
    • #!/bin/sh
    • exit 0
  5. Save and exit the document
  6. In terminal type sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/update-notifier press enter

Let me know if you have any questions!

After attempting to run commands in line 2, it requests password for rise.
Is this something you set, when you configured these boxes, or do I need to try and reset it?
I appreciate any, and all, assistance you can provide.

Thanks
