Simple slide show without an RSS feed

I've got multiple displays in both portrait and landscape format that I'd like to play different slide shows on.  Is there a way to create a slideshow just from uploaded images in my storage?  I'm still really new to this so please forgive my ignorance.

How many images in the slide shows?  And how often do they get changed out?

There isn't any gadget to automatically create a slideshow of the images in your Rise storage.  But you could do it manually, if there isn't too many to manage.

Put a placeholder in the presentation.  Add an image to the placeholder and give it an appropriate duration.  Then add the next image, and so on.

Rather than use Rise Storage and multiple instances of the Image Item, you can store your images to Picasa and use the Photo Album Gadget to show them.  You can then manage the images in the album that you create and the Display will update accordingly. One of my main gripes with Picasa is that it does not 'cycle' the pictures.  The slide show 'bounces' back and forth (for lack of a better description)..  Instead of cycling through pictures like 1-2-3-4-5-1-2-3-4-5-1-2-... where the last picture is always followed by the first picture, it goes 1-2-3-4-5-5-4-3-2-1-1-2-3-... so the first and last pictures are always shown twice in a row.  It looks really stupid, especially if there's only a few pictures.

There is also no way to control the order of the slideshow.  It always runs them in the order they were uploaded.

It would be really nice if Rise would take my suggestion from over a year ago seriously, and make it able to poll a folder on a server/host and just cycle through what is in the folder in alphabetical/numerical order.  That would be an incredibly useful way to manage the content - especially when your customers want to be able to upload content themselves.

We appreciate your suggestion regarding the ability to be able to specify an order for how the the images will appear on the Display.

I haven't seen the situation where the images show in the manner you specify, but I agree that it would be nice if you could specify the order in Picasa for how they will appear.

The bottom left corner. There's only two pictures there now so it's very easy to see.  It goes 1-2-2-1-1-2-2-1-1 and it looks idiotic.

But that aside, my main complaint is that there is absolutely no easy way to manage a Picasa album to where I can say "All you have to do is put your pictures in this folder and they show up on the sign".

I tried your Presentation and I saw what you're referring to with the cycle.  When I tried my own Picasa feed it, worked fine.

I did try using your feed with the RSS Gadget, and that seems to work well in that it cycles through the images as expected (choose the layout at the bottom of the settings - it will show just the images).  It may not take care of your disdain for Picasa, but may be a more viable solution to what you've experienced so far.
