Greetings Rise and Community - thank you for all of your support.

My question is this: Can you edit the HTML of a Presentation on the Scheduling portion of the code to have multiple startTimes/endTimes for a single item?

I want a placeholder to show up once every hour for a few minutes without having to add 24 separate placeholders (and configure accordingly).

Regular HTML

Here is what it looks like when I edit the HTML for an item for a specific time I need (because the GUI only allows for 0:15 minute intervals but I want a specific time)

Note that the startTime/endTime only have one input

"id": "item_1",
"type": "playlist",
"timeDefined": true,
"startDate": "02/16/17 12:00 AM",
"endDate": null,
"startTime": "02/16/17 1:21 PM",
"endTime": "02/16/17 1:25 PM",
"recurrenceType": "Daily",
"recurrenceFrequency": "1",
"recurrenceAbsolute": true,
"recurrenceDayOfWeek": "0",
"recurrenceDayOfMonth": "0",
"recurrenceWeekOfMonth": "0",
"recurrenceMonthOfYear": "0",
"visibility": true,
"transition": "none",

Is this possible with the HTML??

Instead of adding multiple unique Placeholders that each have their own schedule timing, can you edit the HTML to have multiple times that it is on/off?

"id": "item_1",
"type": "playlist",
"timeDefined": true,
"startDate": "02/16/17 12:00 AM",
"endDate": null,
"startTime": "02/16/17 1:21 PM, 2:21 PM, 3:21 PM",
"endTime": "02/16/17 1:25 PM, 2:25 PM, 3:25 PM",
"recurrenceType": "Daily",
"recurrenceFrequency": "1",
"recurrenceAbsolute": true,
"recurrenceDayOfWeek": "0",
"recurrenceDayOfMonth": "0",
"recurrenceWeekOfMonth": "0",
"recurrenceMonthOfYear": "0",
"visibility": true,
"transition": "none",

Ideas
  • Does startTime/endTime accept multiple inputs?
  • Does recurrenceType accept "Hourly" (opposed to daily, weekly, monthly?)

Jeremy,

Maybe I am missing something, but since Placeholders are transparent, would it not be easier to just schedule the item in the Placeholder to show at select times? That way when nothing was scheduled to show, it would be as if nothing was in that Placeholder.

Robb -

Yes - you are on the same track and correct. I am have a transparent placeholder on top of other content.

However - what if I want that transparent placeholder to show 2 or 3 or 24 times a day - opposed to just the one time that the schedule HTML seems to suggest?

Do I need to make a unique placeholder for each and every time I want it to show? Or can I have this placeholder and edit the HTML so that it shows at the times I want it to (more than once..)?

Does that problem & seeking solution make sense?

Jeremy,

You could just schedule the content in that Placeholder to only show at certain times of the day. When it is scheduled to show, it would show, and when it is not scheduled to show, it would be only the blank Placeholder. So for example, you have 2 Image Widgets in a Placeholder; Schedule one to show from 10 am - 1:15 am, and the other to show from 3 pm - 3:15 pm. Those content items will only show at that time, and the rest of the time the Placeholder will be blank. You would add the content to the Placeholder that you want to show at the appropriate times, and that should be it.

Would that work?

Hey Robb -

Thank you for the follow up.

I think we are getting closer, but that still leaves me with a slight problem.

What if I want to show the same image at those two times you mentioned, and also 10 other times throughout the day?

Do I have to insert the same 12 Image Widgets with the same settings into the one single Placeholder? And then select the times I want them to show?

I am looking to insert 1 Placeholder, with 1 Image Widget and be able to edit the HTML for it to show at multiple times.
Is this possible with the HTML? Or does the Scheduling capability only accept a single time input for Scheduling purposes?

I was thinking that in the HTML, there might be the ability to edit it like such:

"startTime": "02/16/17 1:21 PM, 2:21 PM, 3:21 PM",
"endTime": "02/16/17 1:25 PM, 2:25 PM, 3:25 PM",

Where it plays 1:21-1:25, then 2:21-2:25, then 3:21-3:25. While it may not be possible, I see placing a multiple Image Widgets into a single Placeholder to be taxing.

Thoughts?

Jeremy,

I'm not aware of a way to do that. There may be a way to do that with custom HTML, but that is a bit above my head. I would suggest reaching out to our creative team at creative@risevision.com to explain what you need, and see if they can work with you to develop what you are looking for.

Thanks!
