Schedules not working again

I am trying to schedule new images/video for next Wed (Remembrance day) and the schedule and Visible checkbox are NOT working.

I added a new placeholder using a background image and set it to display ONLY on Nov 11 from 4am to 11:45pm. Yet as soon as I published it was pushed to the display!!!

I then went into that placeholder, unchecked VISIBLE and Published again and it was still being displayed on the screen 5 minutes later. I removed the Background image and published so it would be gone.

This is very frustrating as I am leaving this afternoon and this needs to work properly when I'm gone.

Hi Glen,

Is this issue still occurring and are you using the old editor or the new editor? If it is still occurring can you please tell me the presentation name and I'll have a look.

I have not tried since this morning, so I would guess it is. I am using the Old editor. I don't use Beta software for Live anything.

Which placeholder was having the issue? And if you have removed it could you create a copy of this presentation with the problematic placeholder re-added so that I could try re-creating the issue.

the place holder is 'remember'. Please note that this presentation is the current live presentation on our displays as it's the Wednesday playlist (I was prepping it for Next Wed)

Hi Glen,

I tested this and I was able to get it to work by adding an Image Widget to the placeholder rather than setting the placeholder background as an image.

Having more issues with Schedules.

Have a video set to display from Dec 1 - 11:30 am on Dec 23. It won't display on the screens at all. Switch it to Always and it starts showing up again.

Sorry, I was replicating the presentation locally to try and find the issue. I'll replace it with something here and see if I can confirm.

Just wanted to keep you updated. I scheduled a playlist of videos, with one to start (CST) at 3:30pm and end at 4:30pm. It did begin playing at 3:30pm as scheduled. I've rescheduled to more accurately match yours, but I won't see a result until tomorrow. This could have something to due with caching, but I'm not certain yet as I haven't been able to replicate. I'll let you know what I see tomorrow morning.

Thanks. These machines are set to reboot every night as well, so that should clear the caches??

The Video Widget uses Rise Cache, which persists through reboot. That's why that will be the first place I start looking once I confirm the issue :)

So we're back to schedule issues yet again.

Setup the videos for Jan and set the current presentation to display until the 31 at 11:45 and start the new presentation on the 1st at 12am. 

Come in this morning and NONE of the videos are playing again. Nobody from my department will be here until the 4th.

Why does this keep happening!

Per previous discussions, these machines were just updated to the latest RV Player. All running Intels with Windows7

You can't access the video because it's internal to our network (Per the IP address). Storage continues to have problems playing videos properly (Videos that had been playing perfectly fine until an update) so I moved them locally.

I was forced to move from a single presentation to 7 presentations to cover a daily menu because apparently it's not able to handle the number of placeholders and numbers of options in each placeholder.

So, with this feature being removed, how am I supposed to ensure multiple videos get played in a single placeholder across 7 different presentations? 

Some videos require scheduling, so the Multiple Video Widget is not suitable (That, and having tried that previously, I ran into issues of videos not playing properly).

I'm curious, when you say "it's not able to handle the number of placeholders and numbers of options in each placeholder.", do you still have a copy of a Presentation built in this fashion available? Since we are recommending people not use embedded Presentations due to issues we have seen with them, I'd like to see if we have an issue playing the videos in the single Presentation fashion you mention was giving you issues. I see from Blake's points above that he was not able to recreate the same problem, but maybe there is something further we will see with your Presentation that we didn't see with ours.

I no longer have this presentation.

The videos never made it to this presentation either as I couldn't even get the content from the spreadsheet to display properly.

It never went live built as it was built because I had to break it into 7 different presentations to work properly (Original thread:  https://community.risevision.com/rise_vision_inc/topics/spreadsheet-not-pulling-in-all-data)

Ah bummer.

Using your example above, where you need "multiple videos to play in single Placeholders across 7 Presentations", would it be a realistic test to use this Presentation, and use 7 different videos in that main video Placeholder, each going to a different Display? Is there anything further we should test?

Given that your URLs are local, I wanted to verify that they were configured for your network accordingly. Meaning, are you sure it is being shared with your media players? Can you access the video on your player?

As for your embedded presentations, we acknowledge that this is a complex situation and we are doing our very best to accommodate to our users. Hopefully we can conclude with a working solution for your setup.

Would creating a presentation with your video playlist, then scheduling it into your schedules app be viable? Meaning, you have presentation A playing, and at random intervals throughout the day you can cut in with your playlist. You can setup the playlist presentation to look like your main presentation. Does this make sense to you?

We've started to experiment with scheduling content further in advance and today I tried scheduling some videos. One to run 12/22 - 12/27 and one to run 12/28/15 - 1/3/16. It didn't work. When I preview the Schedule it runs one Presentation for 10 seconds and then the next one and so forth. I've checked the schedules over and over and to no avail. It isn't deployed to a display yet as I don't want to have issues. I created this test schedule fresh in the new Schedules editor. I believe this is its ID (01c9dd70-d1e4-4827-a761-56fdeab2e0b2).

Forgive my previous response Robert, that doesn't appear to be accurate from what I am seeing here. I have Schedule where I have set one Presentation from the 22 - 23, and another from the 23-24. 

When I preview it, I only see one Presentation, the one that is scheduled for today. I tried this at both the new and older Editor.

We'll do some more investigating over here to see if we can determine the issue you're seeing.

Just to confirm, is this running on a Windows, Linux, or Chrome Player?

Your second response is what I'd expect as I'd previously experimented with this and that'd been the outcome. I'm only looking at this in Preview, nothing published to a player yet. Although we do have displays in use where our staff use schedules so now I'm wondering if they're working as expected...

In preview we ignore schedules.  Do you have a test display you can run this on to verify?  I don't want to add too many cooks to the kitchen here, but you can't test scheduling in preview.

Doh...I realized I had a time value set incorrectly. When I set one Presentation Item to show from 22 - 23, and the other to play from the 23-24, each for 10 seconds, I see it show each for 10 seconds in Preview. On the Displays in this Schedule, I see only the Presentation and video scheduled for today.

To make 100% sure, I tested this with your 2 Presentations, and I can confirm I am not seeing the restart of the Presentation after 10 seconds like you get in the preview. I think the reason for this is unique to the way the Presentation is built as a Fluid Presentation. Have you considered doing it instead with the Video Widget?

Very sorry for the initial confusion!

Thanks for the info. I made a test display and installed the Chrome player on my laptop and ran the schedule in question. Everything worked fine from the scheduling standpoint. I normally never preview things and just blindly click publish and then just check it on the live display near my office. Working home today and didn't have the luxury... we see where that got me. :)

The scheduling function doesn't seem to be working at all, suddenly. I'm still using the old editor, and I've changed nothing about how I've been using it. Pretty puzzling.

After observing for a few days, it's know looking like maybe the scheduler is a day off? It has been consistently displaying presentation scheduled for the previous day. Company ID: 1JzAba1WwwgR. It's currently displaying presentation "1.1" when "1.2" is what we're hoping to show.

Can I get the name of your Company? I think you may have included your Claim ID or Authentication Key, and just going by your Company name would be easier.

Even easier, if you can share a link to one of the Presentations in the Schedule, I can find it that way as well.
