I'm trying to set up a presentation which has a vlc plugin as html element streaming rtsp video feed from an IP camera. Very similar config to THIS thread.

However I can't get the video to play. I tried Windows and Ubuntu chrome risevision players, but the presentation only comes up with a puzzle piece icon. When I try to "Preview" the presentation from within Rise Vision website I get the same icon, but when I hover I see "This plugin is not supported".

Is vlc plugin no longer supported? Or am I doing something wrong?

Roman,

The VLC plugin has never been officially supported by Rise Vision, and we have never developed a widget or gadget to display content from VLC. The solution you linked was by way of custom HTML, which we don't offer support for.

Thanks for a quick response Blake! Are there any supported methods to stream RTSP video via Rise Vision?

Hi Roman,
My answer only pertains to Linux based OS. I'm not entirely sure where the Windows OS stands, but I know it's all relative to the Chromium Browser. VLC's method of plugin-distribution (NPAPI) is no longer supported by Google, and therefore Google Chromium. Without getting too long-winded and technical, it revolves around the NPAPI standard, that has been around since the Netscape Navigator days...however Google is choosing to move away from this standard. End of the day, at this stage, there is no way to incorporate a VLC RTP broadcast into the Rise Vision player.

If you're needing this option, my company has built a specific player to solve this issue. Let me know if you're interested and we can sort out the specific details.

Thanks,

I would be interested in getting more details on this player for playing RTSP content from an IP Camera.   How do we proceed?  Eric
