Hi, I just recently installed Ubuntu 12.04.2 32 bit on a system and then installed the player. After like 15 minutes the system completely freezes. I have to hard power off the computer and restart it.

Anyone else have this issue?

I haven't used 12.04 in a while, but have not had any troubles with 12.10.

To ensure that it isn't any of the content causing the problem, I would recommend a gradual removal of items until you get a stable playback (I realize this may not be the quickest solution, sorry). Once you have gotten stable playback, begin to add items back in place (except for the last item removed) to determine if it was the content involved.

Please let us know how you make out.

Thanks.

Old posts here but I am experiencing the same issue. Both of our ubuntu 14.02 boxes freeze on us and require a restart. One is an ATOM the other is an Intel i5 with 8G RAM. We are running a long video loop (all MWEB) which may be the problem? The loop is 3hrs long.

Does Rise Vision run ok on anything other than Chromebox? So far the Chromebox is the only one we can get to be somewhat reliable, only shutting off about once a day. We have been doing substantial testing on five different media players and several screens. So far we have yet reached a two day period where the software did not fail on us. Are we doing something wrong? Should we shut the box off once a day? Is there a remote way to do this on an ASUS chrome box? Or with a linux script?

Robert,

Google introduced an issue in Chrome 43 that adversely affected Rise Player. At the moment, the beta channel of Chrome is running fine. We are monitoring the situation on our Uptime wall to verify that Google does not inadvertently release any new bugs to the Beta channel before it moves to Stable.

So, I installed Ubuntu and Rise Vision on Intel Compute Stick, and RV app is freezing within an hour, appearing 'red' in RV display control App. The content seems not to be a factor here. RV App is freezing equally fine playing videos or showing static text ))). I am blaming the device, but would like to determine the exact reason why RV is not liking it. How do I go about this, any suggestions? Any advice for tweaking Ubuntu OS for more... absolutely stable RV content playback?

May be relevant for the Intel Compute Stick + Ubuntu users.
