I just started testing Rise Vision on Ubuntu. Thing is I have no real experience with Ubuntu what so ever. I've got both Ubuntu and RV working on my testing machine, but I would like to hear how such system is performing in the real life? Is it worth the hassle? Is it stable? Is there anything else I need to address manually after I have installed RV? Is there anything else I need to keep in mind and watch for?

I am interested in this question too, being about equally experienced with Windows and Linux but relatively new to Rise Vision.  The Windows-based players that I maintain are subject to "stupid Windows tricks" like popping up nag dialogs over the top of the signage, and whenever that happens I roll my eyes and say, "that's one difference between Windows and Linux".  So when it came time to purchase the next media player I suggested we try the Ubuntu box.  I'm really interested to see how reliable it is in the field, but based on my past experience with Windows vs. Linux web servers, I'm betting that it will be more reliable.

I know at least one user that have made a switch over to Ubuntu. You may also find this reply about Ubuntu useful: https://community.risevision.com/rise...
