In this article, we will go over the different creative ways your school can make use of our content and Widgets.

Templates

To get started, we offer free templates for educational institutions in our store. You can revise these templates any way you’d like. Did we mention that they are free? Simply navigate to https://apps.risevision.com/editor/list and click the “Add Presentation” button, then select “Add from template” from the dropdown.

Here are a few examples of what we have to offer:

Widgets

Here is a list of Widgets that are best used for an educational environment and their uses.

Google Calendar:

You can switch between a weekly view, daily agenda, or a monthly view. This is great for displaying a class schedule, due dates, announcing birthdays, and other special events.

Calendars are highly customizable. Here is a video walkthrough on how to get set up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ih9bWriGYQ

For different calendar formats (agenda view, monthly view, etc), take a look at this article from our community forum: https://community.risevision.com/rise_vision_inc/topics/how-to-display-group-calendars

Google Spreadsheets

If you have a Google spreadsheet that you would like to display, you can display it using our Google Spreadsheet Widget. You can give staff members access to the Spreadsheet and they can make their revisions without having to log on to the Rise platform. The spreadsheet will automatically update on your Displays once changes are made. Like our other Widgets, spreadsheets are customizable so you aren’t stuck with the same old boring table. These spreadsheets can scroll, transition, and have custom text and backgrounds. Spreadsheets are particularly useful if you need to display a food menu on campus or a directory.

For a how-to, navigate to the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTMyq2xR3so

Text

The text Widget is most commonly used to display announcements. There is no need to use a third party platform to make updates, simply navigate into the configuration window and update your text. You can select from a wide array of fonts, colors, and scrolling effects. This Widget can also be used for displaying inspirational quotes for some #mondaymotivation.

Clock

This is pretty self-explanatory, but a school display wouldn’t be complete without a clock! You can use our Our Time and Date Widget for this purpose.

Weather

Make the local weather easily accessible from anywhere at anytime with our Mostly Sunny! widget. Now there are no excuses for dressing inappropriately for the weather ;)

RSS

Our RSS gadget is great for displaying the local news, educational, or other dynamic feeds. Here are some great feeds you can use for your campus:

Image Widget

You can use our Image Widget to display a slideshow of images from trips, event posters, newsletters, conferences, lectures, and more.

Google Slides

Users can import and display your Powerpoint presentations using the Google Slides platform. See: https://community.risevision.com/rise_vision_inc/topics/how-to-set-up-google-slides-in-your-presentation for how to get started.

Cool Ideas for your Presentations

Top Attendance Rankings:

Using our Spreadsheet or Text Widget, you can display students with the top attendance for the semester. This is a great way to honor recognition as well as inspire other students to be accountable for attending class!

Campus Map:

Help your students find their way across campus with maps on designated displays. If you already have a campus map, simply add the image to your presentation using the Image Widget. You can edit your image with a “You Are Here” marker depending what section of the building the display is located in.

You can also embed your campus map using our Web Page Widget. Simply input the URL of the page your campus map is located on.

If you would like to build a campus map, you will need to look into a third party resource. You can design your own, or hire somebody else to build it for you. Here are a few resources to get you started:

Google Classroom

Google Classroom is a new platform that has been released for educational institutions. Unfortunately, we do not have a Widget that supports this nor have we tested this platform. You can, however, use HTML to embed the documents. Simply extract the embedded code that is provided when clicking the “Share” button and paste it within the tags in our HTML Widget.

Weekly Riddle or Trivia

Use our Text Widget to display a weekly word challenge for your students. You can also embed an interactive (educational) game using our Web Page or HTML Widget, such as http://www.learninggamesforkids.com/ or http://www.tvokids.com/games/.

Student(s) Of The Month

Create a Google Slide and add an image of your student with a caption containing some words of appreciation. This is also great to announce birthdays, or honor different employees on staff.

CodePens:

Import these CodePens using our HTML Widget and pasting the code between the tags.
