We have recently added error reporting to Rise Player. You may now see a black screen with an error message presented if your display is malfunctioning.

The following cases may cause an error message through Rise Player
  • Port 9449 is in use by another program
  • Your media player has multiple instances of Rise Player running
  • You are running on a network or behind a proxy that does not allow access to port 9449.
The most common scenario we are seeing is multiple instances of Rise Player running on Windows machines with Application Monitor running. If you feel that this might be the case, you can confirm the issue by opening task manager and seeing if there are multiple instances of Rise Player running. If there are, please review the documentation in our Windows Optimization Guide to confirm your settings for Application Monitor are correct.
