How would one use the Rise Player Display Control presentation? And in what circumstances would it be beneficial?

Hi Robert,

You can see the article that I posted on Display Control here.

Interesting.

Your article said I would need to "remote into the Media Player using a remote desktop connection" to test the commands. Could one remote into a Chromebox while in kiosk mode running a  current schedule?

I must not understand this part: "Click the Display Off button, and your Display should turn off. Click the Display On button and the Display should turn on." If I click the Display Off button, and the display then turns off, how would I then click the Display On button? The display is off, right?

I should just try it, as we're looking for an scheduled on/off solution for our signage TVs, and only some models have that capability built into them.  But so far I haven't located a USB-Serial adapter. Aren't those kinda old school?

Does this presentation then have to stay permanently in the schedule that feeds the particular TV you want to control? If you set it for zero seconds duration, that Display Control presentation could be part of the schedule and therefore control the TV, yet not actually show up on the displays?

Or am I totally going in the wrong direction?

Thanks,
Robert

To test that Commands are working correctly, you will need to remote into the Media Player using a remote desktop connection (cause the monitor for the display will be turned off - not the player itself)

It's a year later, and I'm still not aware of any options to 'remote into' a Chromebox in kiosk mode.

Have you gotten this display control presentation to work with Chrome devices?

Thanks,
Robert

I can't find the "Display control" Template...  Is it still around?
