I am using Rise Vision on Chromebox. I wanted to know the maximum caching that can be achieved without downloading the same content again and again.

I have about 3 GB of video files queued up in a presentation and want to run them on number of displays.

Here is a sample presentation with largest video file (~1 GB):

Sanjay,

The Rise cache holds videos until the media player is rebooted or the file in storage has changed.

Got you, thanks Blake!

One more related question -
By default player is scheduled to reboot at 3 am, however my presentation is scheduled to run from 6 am to 6 pm. If the Chromebox is not turned on at 3 am, will it still download the content when the player starts (even if the content has not changed)?

In other words, if scheduled reboot is set to None for particular display, how will it detect the new content?

Sorry if my question sounds like confusing.

Essentially, I want to understand if something can be done to only refresh / download content when it is changed?

As I have about 3 GB of video files, I don't to download the same files each morning if that what scheduled player reboot does.

Thanks again for your help!

Sanjay,

I was actually mistaken. Rise Cache is persistent through reboots. Videos remain in cache until the file on the server is changed, or the video is removed from the presentation.

That's fantastic!

So scheduled reboot is mainly required to upgrade player (when available)? And i assume it require Chromebox to be up at the time (3 am by default) though TV can be powered off?

Sanjay,

Some users prefer to have their chromebox reboot once a day, which is why we included this functionality. It should reboot even without a display.

Ok, great!

As we use Rise Vision, we will encounter some interesting use cases so will let you know if there is any other question.

Thanks so much for your help.

Sanjay,

I have just confirmed with the developer of our player that Rise Cache has access to all available storage on the drive.

That's even better. I will also run some test and confirm this.
