Problems with the brand new Rise Vision pre-installed player from the store

Because of all the weird problems with Chromeboxes and custom Windows 10 devices we decided to pay some extra and buy pre-installed Windows 7 Rise Vision  player. We were hoping to get a proper set-up and more stable performance. Funny, but right of the bat it would not work!!!

Initially everything was fine, and It started playing after I entered player ID, but it is dumping it every time I am restarting the player and it is attempting installation again after restart, but because RV is already there, I am getting error messages.

I tried starting it manually, and it asked for ID again, but after the restart I get the same problem.

This is not cool! I cannot even tell my boss because it was my idea to purchase player from you hoping to get a better performing device.  So what do I do now? Delete everything and re-install it? Then what is the point for buying these?

Also, big concern! Windows were updating something right of the bat! So what is the config exactly for updates? I am concerned about it shutting down and not coming back after that. Nobody is happy about that.

Hey Darius!

This should definitely not be the case. As you may be aware, the NUCs in our store are sold by a third party provider. I'm concerned yours may have come with an older image.

Could we arrange for me to set up a remote session on the device, and take a look at all of the problems so I can make note of them and get this resolved on a bigger scale? Just email support@risevision.com attn: Blake and we'll get this moving right away.

Thanks for letting us know about the issues.

I am gonna do the follow-up on this. Yesterday Blake remotely connected to the device and fixed the problems. The main RV App issue was caused by an extra instance of RV App that got installed thru Google Apps when I attached my account. So, I take the blame for this to some extent; however, I think this situation needs to be highlighted some way in the installation manuals as a big no-no. Funny, but I had no issues with that on the devices I installed myself.
Also, Blake found wrong settings in Power Management and Windows Updates. I swear to god, I did not fiddle with the settings on this device. All I did was installed my Google Account because I needed some Google Apps that we use with our 'headless' RV devices.
The device was bought from TheBookPC thru RV Store. Blake was going to bring these problems to their attention, and hopefully this will be not the case with other devices you purchased from them in the future. I know we will if the device we bought would prove itself as a stable player for our digital signage network.

Darius,

Thanks for bumping this topic, I was just looking for it =)

As for the Chrome Application automatically loading when you log in. I'm not sure there is much we can do there. If someone happens to have this issue, that's why the Rise Player error message is there. I touched based with BookPC, and they loaded up a NUC with a brand new image, no CAP at all.

Power settings and Windows Updates are being resolved in a new image now =)

Hi Darius,

Just letting you know that we have released a new version of installer that has addressed the remaining rvplayer folder issue.

Thanks!
