Presentations play by themselves in the schedule, but not with other presentations

I've been messing with this for 2 days now and by now I would expect to have it figured out.  This should be easier/more intuitive than it is.  Now that's out of the way, let's see if you can get me pointed in the right direction.

All my presentations play when added to a schedule by themselves, but when i start to combine them for scheduling, only the first presentation plays.  I've tried many different combinations, but obviously havn't found the right one.

Is is necessary to set the duration for a scheduled item when you're specifically setting the timeline of that item to play from time a to time b?  I ask this out of curiosity, but i've tried it with the duration matching the a to b timeline duration and with play until done with the same result.

I'm trying to get this set up for our High School and have one presentation that will play until the 5 minute countdowns before each period, then start back after the countdowns.   I've set up countdown presentations for each period and also a lunch presentation that will play twice a day during each lunch period.

Here's the schedule I'm attempting
https://apps.risevision.com/schedules/details/e9badd74-2374-4b46-b684-4b60d61df52f?cid=6803ee9e-bf1e-4757-b905-ada454487532

But when I couldn't get it to work I started with some test schedules to just try to figure out how the scheduling works and couldn't get them to work either.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Hi HSHS TVs,
I am getting results when I preview the presentation - I can see the first presentation playing but after the, I can see the 5th countdown presentation play for one of the schedules...

Curious to check - are you currently editing the Schedules within the new Schedules app (accessible via https://apps.risevision.com/schedules/) and not editing this from the classic Schedules editor (via https://rva.risevision.com/#/SCHEDULES)?

I can see it fine via the preview as well, just not on the display.  Although it just seems to play each presentation 10 sec and goes to the next.  I've never seen the classic app your refering to.  The countdowns are videos hosted on a local web server inside our network, doubt you'll see them at all besides the text and date/time.  But I can see the video when the only thing I have on the schedule is one of the video presentations set to "play until done" and timeline set to always.  It's just when i start to add other presentations that it doesn't work.

I can't really put my finger on it as sometimes it will switch to play the video presentation, but not play the video(all you see is the text), and other times it never switches to the presentation at all.

HSHS TV's,

It looks like you are using the My Rise Player app on an Android box, I wonder if something is not being interpreted correctly on that device.

Another thing I noticed is that while your Schedule Items are set to be Play Until Done, your Presentations do not have a Placeholder that is marked as the Play Until Done Placeholder. The way that Play Until Done works, is it waits for the content in the "Play Until Done Placeholder" has reached the end, and that triggers the Done event, which will move to the next Presentation in the Schedule.

Can you set the Play Until Done Placeholder to the correct one for your Presentations and let me know if that helps?

Thanks!

Gotcha, will do and i'll let ya know the results.  What has higher priority?  Play until done or start and stop time in the scheduled playlist's timeline?

I'd set the Play Until Done Placeholder in your Presentations first. I'm hoping that solves the issue.

Thanks!

The PUD placeholder being set on the presentation was partially the key to playing the video.  I also had to force stop the myrise player app and clear it's cache.  Thanks for the quick responses and know how!

So now we're over that hurdle, help me wrap my head around the scheduling if you don't mind.  If you set a timeline say of 1:00 to 1:01 and the presentation is a video of 30 sec and you set it to PUD, and then on the next playlist of the schedule say you want it to start right after the video ends, how do you go about doing that?

Hi HSHS TVs

If you set your 30 second video to play until done in your presentation then it will play for 30 seconds, this would be the first step.

Next, and regarding schedules, you can add playlists of presentations and give them each the option to play until done. If your presentation has a 30 second video then it will play for 30 seconds and then switch to the next presentation in the playlist for the remainder of the time, or as long as specified.

I hope this helps!

So if you set the video(30 sec) to play from 1:00 to 1:01 and PUD, then start the next presentation to start at 1:01, will there be 30 sec of nothing on the display after the video is done and until the next presentation starts?  And if so, how would i go about not having that gap in between?

If you set the schedule to play for a minute and you have a 30 second video it will play twice. If this is what you want then great, if not you can change the timing of the placeholders within your presentation and have it play the video then perhaps an image (or another widget) for the remainder of the time.
