We are excited to announce that our free presentation templates can now be added from the Store. When you click on ‘Add from Template’ from within Rise Editor the Store will open and you can browse all the templates we offer along with images and descriptions for each. To select the one you want click the Add + button.

We want to work with the community to expand our library of templates to give everyone more options to pick from. If you are interested in creating and selling a template in the Store please contact us at https://www.risevision.com/sellers . We look forward to working with you!

If you have presentations that you want to share with your sub-companies you can still do that by checking the 'Template' checkbox under presentation settings just as you did before. A User in your sub-company can access that presentation by clicking on the ‘Templates Shared with You’ button.

That is awesome! I have a question, though. Now, if one were to make those templates for sale, how he or she need to address image/video/flash/spreadsheet etc. storage issue?

Thanks Darius. Can you elaborate on what you mean by addressing the image/video/flash/spreadsheet etc. storage issue?

So, let's say I have a custom looping video background. Now, I am placing those in my storage, but how would I need to go about public templates with custom stuff I asked before?

Understood re. Storage and hosting the template assets (backgrounds, images, videos, etc.) in your Storage account. Right now that is the best option we have and I would suggest having one folder with all related assets per template you create to keep things organized. However, this is something we are discussing internally on what the best solution is to address this. We want to make it easy for you to create a template with assets hosted in your Storage account and when the template is purchased those assets are copied to the buyers account for easy access and management. We don't have this functionality now but is on the top of the list of features that we want to provide to support creating and selling templates.

Are there any other issues that you've identified? You mentioned other custom stuff and specifically spreadsheet. Anything you can elaborate more on, especially using spreadsheets? What problems do you see using them in a public template?

Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback, much appreciated!

Brian,

It is basically the same storage problem with spreadsheets too. My biggest concern is that after somebody forgot to pay for their storage, hundreds of their custom templates in use would just go blank. Google spreadsheets are even worse because you have no control over that service at all. I think if there was some sort of process where all the files could be submitted to you in a package. Something similar to the way a website would be stored. Regardless, I will try to make something and see how people react.

So, I made my first template from the few planned that I would like to share for free with our RV community. It is pretty basic, no funny business here. Just browser friendly images (replaceable) and Text Widget (editable), which I absolutely hated. In my opinion it is totally not ready to be released. I hope you fix it soon because my next templates definitely are gonna be made without that stupid, buggy Text Widget. Anyways, how do I get it posted to RV store?

Here is another one I finished today. Give it a couple of minutes to fully appreciate the build. Again, everything in there is pretty basic and easy to change, and would play in all the different OS; but the build technically is somewhat challenging, so be careful :) Just as i said before, I found Text Widget unusable. The problem is it does not register my font and size selections; therefore I must go back few times and repeat the same action. Something similar is going on with line height selection. It would be great to have an option for duplicating items within the placeholder. It would really help A LOT! I would rather edit duplicated item instead of typing everything again and battling those clumsy font settings. Of course, I could have done that by copy+paste HTML code, but I wanted to be sere the template is fairly easy to edit also for not so HTML proficient folks. At the end I resorted to PNG files because creating multiple text widgets would have taken me a week :) Also, maybe you could add HTML view for Text Widget because at least I could have pasted locally compiled code in it without switching the entire presentation to HTML view... that would be a nightmare. Also, working with white font on white background is just impossible. Please, add 'shadow' style for that widget... please:)

Anyways, here it is: http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer....

Is there a way to reduce the speed of that "running line?" One more: http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer....

Thanks for the feedback on the Text Widget. We are looking into the issues you've reported in addition to those in the Widget's repository, https://github.com/Rise-Vision/widget-text/issues.

As for adjusting the speed of the Text Scroller. At this time that is not a user configured parameter.

Thank you Alan,
I started to get a hang of it, I also improved my work process, so it is quite manageable for me now. Sorry for the rant, though. Any news on how to get those templates posted to the store?

I am wondering what ever happened to this initiative? You do not need community templates anymore; was there a change of plans?

Hi Darius,

We do still want Community templates. Unfortunately, we hadn't thought through a few things. Were making some final fixes right now so that we can continue with this initiative. Expect a Community post on the topic shortly.

Thanks!
