Position of presentation layout reset by itself

This morning a staff member sent me pictures of several of the signage TVs installed at his campus. On one particular presentation, the layout was positioned really far over to the left, resulting in the layout's images and text being cut off, with white space filling up the right of the screen.

Not sure why this was happening, I opened up this particular presentation to look at it. Once I looked at the properties of that particular placeholder, I saw the positioning had changed.

Instead of Top(y): 0 and Left(X): 0, these were now set to -12px and -650px respectively! So I set the X and Y back to 0,0 like it was before, and things went back to normal.

Has anyone had this kind of experience, where settings for a presentation have changed on their own? What could explain this?

(I'm the only one who works on this system, and I haven't changed this particular presentation for weeks.)

Thanks,
Robert

BTW, here's a screenshot of the placeholder settings:

That's a weird one, I can't say I have ever seen that..The first thing that comes to mind is maybe someone dragged the Placeholder accidentally before last saving and publishing? I don't know how likely that is, but that's the first impression I get.

Be sure to let us know if it happens again!

Actually, I experienced my scheduled presentations on one display changing to "no display" so it's playing a default video that I set up if anything wasn't scheduled. This has happened twice now. I thought maybe it was my imagination but now I'm starting to be concerned. Is there any reports of rise kicking out the chosen display? Or maybe it's not saving when I thought it was?

Darius,

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that the Placeholder shifted by 1 pixel by themselves, is that accurate?

Ann, Did the Display change to say "Another Display is using this Display ID"? Or did it just spontaneously become unassigned to the Schedule that it was previously in? This would be the first instance I have heard of it becoming no longer assigned, but we were seeing an issue where some Displays were reporting another was using their Display ID. Updating to the newest version of our Player solved the issue. I know you guys have a TON of Displays (which is awesome), which Display was is it particular was it? I can check to see if it is on the latest version.

Thanks!

Robb, apparently so because I definitely did not move placeholders by 1px exactly. I am keeping nay eye on that presentation, I do not want to make any assumptions yet.

No, it just didn't have any display assigned to it. So spontaneously.

I'll let you know if it happens again. I have upgraded to the newest version through Cenique a few days prior to this happening.

It was the display ID 4SNVD2J9YDNX. It shows it's updated.

Thanks for those confirmations Ann and Darius!

I agree on keeping an eye on both :)

I forgot about it until this discussion, but I've also had a presentation 'move itself' by a few pixels before.

I looked at my test monitor one morning, and there was a white line showing along one edge of presentation. After a bit of troubleshooting, I discovered this pixel offset.

This is exactly how I noticed this issue. The background color or other item in below in the same placeholder was peeking through this tiny gap.

Robert, Darius,

Curious, did you open that Presentation in different browsers on different computers? I'm trying to track down what may be the culprit here so I can try to recreate.

Thanks!

I may have opened one of them on 2 different computers, but for the latest one I used only one PC.

OK, I think I know what might be going on here because I just caught myself at it ))) In editor I click on placeholders to select them for editing. What happens is that right after a click with a mouse pointer I immediately proceed to the left properties panel, and if I did it a bit too fast I could simply dragged the placeholder because it was not released yet.

I just did it again and dragged a placeholder exactly by 1px.

Darius, you're a genius for finding that!

Robert, any chance you could have done the same?

I have caught myself doing the same thing a few times. That particular example of a 1 pixel offset was on a presentation that I hadn't worked on in a while. But it's possible I did it accidentally. It's been over 6 months ago now, and I may misremember.

However, I know I didn't accidentally change the position of the presentation that started this thread. I hadn't edited that particular presentation for months. And even if I had accidentally drug the presentation over a bit while selecting the placeholder, I would have noticed a -650px difference immediately.

So ... I don't know.

It be cool in the new editor that you can lock the placeholder in place. You can edit it and everything but lock it to the spot we want it in permanently untill we unlock it. That would be cool.

Thanks

This! Why we cannot have people like this running for president; they talk sense )))

This is a great idea from William, so I am forking it into its own idea to see if users want to vote on it.
