Hi,

I am trying to play a local.mp4 video using the Video Widget.
It's not working in Preview - giving me the error message: "There was a problem with that video. It could be we don't support it or it's'not encoded correctly."

The video info are pretty basic encoding:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 720x338 (2344050:1237249) 29.97fps 1236kbps [V: h264 high L4.0, yuv420p, 720x338, 1236 kb/s]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo 157kbps [A: Stereo (aac lc, 48000 Hz, stereo, 157 kb/s)]

The link is a local http://IP address/folder/video.mp4 type URL.

Thanks for any help.

Cedric,

Can you try this step and see if it solves the issue for you on your Display:

Navigate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\rvplayer\RiseCache\download and delete the contents there, then restart the player.

Let me know how you make out!

I can try but it's not working in Preview mode. I haven't tried running the Presentation on an Actual DIsplay.

Doh, sorry, missed that in your original comment.

I wonder if it has anything to do with how the MP4 is encoded.

Can I ask you to re-encode that video to be a WebM? You can follow the steps here to encode it as a WebM and let me know if that works?

Sorry it did not work.

Here are my current Video Item settings:

But I have noticed an issue.

I use a local URL to access the webm file: http://172.20.10.21/EPCIntranet/intra...

However, when I try to access this URL directly in the Chrome browser, I get a 404 error.

When I access the video file with the this even more local URL using the file protocol: file:///Z:\Quickpass_Digital_Signage_...,

It works in Chrome to see directly the video but in Rise Preview mode, it doesn't work.

I am a bit lost. Any suggestions?

Cedric,

We recommend having it available via the IP Address, so it can be opened in a browser on another machine. Just curious, when you preview, are you previewing on your machine, or the Display?

I preview on my computer - before testing it on the Display.

I wonder if you were to preview on that Display, it would have the same issue. Any chance you can get it working via that IP address?

Thanks!
