Player type now unsupported ?

I have a number of Iadea MBR-1100 media players using the Scott's Digital Signage Android App, along with RiseVision.   It works really well !   However, something has just happened today.

When I am logged in to RiseVision and click on the 'Displays' tab, all of the players are now showing as "Unsupported" in the Player Type column.   There is an option to upgrade the Player Type, however it only applies to Ubuntu, Windows 10, or Raspbian players.

Do I need to do anything ?   Will the Iadea players continue functioning correctly ?

Hi there,

Can you tell me if the message says Unsupported or does it say 3rd Party Player?  The media players should continue to function.

Yea its still supported by us but we dont like that either. I think from what i have gathered that rise is is the process of making there own android app. If thats the case then we need them to let everyone know and timelines. Cenique is now gone and we have put development on hold because we saw something like this coming. I know that we are third party but at least have it say Supported by third party. Anyway its Still Supported but for how long depends on what rise does.

Thanks
William

William - thank you for answering!  That's why I wanted to clarify.   The message should indeed say 3rd Party Player, not 'Unsupported'  If it's showing as Unsupported, we need to investigate and correct this.

Yea its saying unsupported on all our stuff and not third party. Please change that if you could. I have already had several people asking me this morning about that. Thanks for letting me know its a bug and i will let everyone that it will be changed.

Thanks

Yes, all of my players are listed with 'Unsupported' stated in red, with a link to upgrade underneath.  As long as the players just keep on playing, I'm happy.

Hi - a quick update for everyone following this thread - this issue has been resolved.   You should see a Third Party Player message instead of Unsupported.  Thank you!

Hi just started following this thread because the same thing happened to us today, but it does indeed say Unsupported and does not show a Third Party Player message.

Can you email the Display ID you are seeing this on to support@risevision.com?

Thanks!

Not to pile on but I am experiencing something similar. My players are all (so I thought) the same version of the rise player available on the display page. All have all been updated at the same time (thought to anyway) . They are on the same hardware and OS and recently,  a number of them have been showing up as "unsupported" while others appear to be OK.

Thoughts?

I have found the same thing.   I have a number of media players that are all the same model and are all set up correctly.   All of them are showing as "3rd party player", but one of them says that it is "unsupported".    Not a big deal I guess - as long as they are all still functioning the same on Risevision.  Just unusual that the software would somehow single one out.

Dave, Mark,

Fo rthe ones that say "Unsupported", are they older versions of the Rise Vision Player?

Well, I think that is the problem.

It appears the "unsupported" players are on v. 2016.06.13.18.00 and the supported are on RisePlayerElectron 2017.08.11.12.04 Standard.  Since we deployed the same base Iine build for our players, I  don't understand how half of them are on one version and the other half are not.

Question: Is it possible that there is no "over the wire upgrade" between these versions, and that some were upgraded accidentally through a package manager action somehow?

Further: Or is there an over the wire upgrade that somehow we did not get on 50% of the displays?

I have performed an upgrade on one of the suspect devices ( I did not blow away the old version but instead just dumped the new version on top, per instructions). The upgrade process appears to fly OK, but the display still shows as unsupported. I am going to give it an hour and see what happens.

Last thing: I am getting a notification about "X days remaining on my trial". Is this something I need to be worried about?
