Player Caching - How and Where?

we are unable to get any of our players to cache. we tried Windows and Ubuntu 14.02. there are several posts on here saying to follow a folder path to the rvplayer, polipo cache etc. I can't find these folders on either OS. It appears out boxes are not caching.

Also is there a way to get video to stay in the cache when restarted? Ideally we would like to cache our players, take them to Mexico and have them play in Mexico without internet. Not sure if this is possible but we would at least like to make sure the players are caching before we embark on this journey to land a deal with our client.

Any help appreciated.

Robert,

Which version of player are you running? The Rise Player Chrome Extension, or Native Player?

Unfortunately at this time, full offline play is not available. It's something that we're looking into, but we don't have a timeline for it. Each time a player boots up, it needs to be connected to the internet so it can retrieve presentation and schedule settings. If you are using the Chrome Extension, along with the HTML5 Video Widget, or the Video Folder Widget, those videos are cached and persistent through reboots.

Sanjay,

Items loaded from third party storage are cached in browser cache which is cleared upon reboot.

Ah, I see your point.

Every morning at 3am, the day's content will be downloaded and played from there until next reboot?

Sanjay,

Yes, that is correct.

Great thanks!

Would you advise on disabling scheduled reboot if one were to avoid downloading the same content each morning?

Is daily reboot is mainly meant for applying upgrade or there is any other purpose?

Sanjay,

Daily reboot is encouraged for stability purposes.

ok, once it retrieves presentation and schedule settings will it play without internet? can it work with poor internet if given enough time (overnight)?

we are trying both the chrome extension and the native player.

Robert,

If the player has network removed, it will continue displaying it's current content until either the Rise Player Chrome Extension is restarted, or the media player itself is restarted.
