Well, i think that the Player App should be able to run the last Schedule List downloaded with their respective content... such as a web page with Offline navigation capability.

Sorry for the late response on this JPA, as I stated in the other forum discussion where you mentioned this, we will let everyone know in the forum if there is a reevaluation of our priorities to move this ahead.

I've changed this to an idea so other users can vote on this if they would also like to see this functionality.

Thanks!

We are looking at deploying mobile kiosks that may not always have an internet connection.  I'd love to be able to cache a presentation in the display at the main office and then have the cached presentation displayed on the next load when the internet is unavailable!

We are currently currently evaluating the possibility of offline players.

I would like this to. I live in a country that has a very slow internet connection with drops, this would help.

This is a bit of a long story. We actually created the offline player as a chrome app, but had to abandon it due to stability issues and instead pivot and focus on native players. As soon as we have the native players released and made improvements to our infrastructure we will be returning to this functionality. It's out there, but we have learned how to make it work, we just need to redo it in a fully stable environment. Will keep you posted. Thanks

I wish I could go back in time to convince you not to abandon the native player for the Chrome App Player...live and learn.
Thanks for all your team's hard work!

I vote this topic too. I'm looking for Digital signage solution now, but our displays often have only 3G/GSM internet connections which are slow and unstable.

Hi Zalmyk
Apologies, the repo link that I have sent through was for a parked project that has not been updated. Also, please see this comment: Edit: https://community.risevision.com/rise...

Following.. an offline player would be nice, I will check out the repo.

Is this *purely* offline? I guess what I have on my "wish list" is a hybrid.. it will update when online if available, otherwise play the last loaded content.

Thanks!

All, the repo that Hannah is referring to was (is?) an experiment that is using technology that wasn't cooperating the way we would like it to. We are taking a different route now, which is months away unfortunately. Thanks

Thanks Byron and Hannah. I'm looking forward to that day when we can use rise in offline mode on startup.

That is correct, theRise Player is not set up for offline use at this time. We will be sure to notify everyone in the forum if this changes.

Thanks!

But there is already a ton of options for offline signage players, even with no monthly fees if that was your concern.

Are you trying to suggest people abandon Rise Vision?????

Even if it could just play the last loop (presentation) loaded would be great in case internet is lost.

I'd like to add a vote for this feature. An offline mode would help us deploy mobile displays at trade shows and offsite events where WiFi is not always guaranteed.

Trade shows are the worst when you are using online content :( Internet at the show is ridiculously expensive (or unavailable), and using cellular wifi hotspots is a hit or miss. It the show is big, wireless congestion is a big issue. We've resorted to sending videos of actual players just in case.

For the reasons Wendi mentioned, I would just build an App (for Android and Windows) using HTML (jQuery perhaps would be the best) and make it load at startup. Use Dreamweaver to build the content and pack it into the App using Adobe PhoneGap http://phonegap.com/

If HTML is too much, then simply build a multi-page PDF document with navigation using eiditor of your choice. Load the file when needed.
