Not working on Pi

Hello
I have setup the pi and it works, I installed the risevision player, and via our ADSL line this worked, But it needs to sit behind a ISA ( Proxy server )
So on the local LAN with a static IP I installed tightVNC server and this works but when the pi was rebooted it would show an error to do with lxpoledit, but if you unselect it in desktop session settings the error does not appear,
So I can VNC on to the Pi, I can get to Google as on the firewall there is an exception to allow access to the risevision servers and raspbian.org.
so in the etc/apt/apt.conf.d I created a file called Proxy10 and added the following line
Acquire::http::Proxy "http://username:password@yourproxyaddress:proxyport/";
as when the command sudo apt-get update is run it shows "failed to fetch http:// archive.raspberrypi.org/" or "failed to fetch http:// mirrordirector.raspbian.org/"  407 proxy Authentication required: access to the web proxy filter is denied,

also the risevision app has stopped auto loading since tightvnc has been loaded
Anyone had experience of getting the pi working when behind a proxy and using the risevision player ? :?:

I've had a proxy set up in house and used the Pi successfully from it.

Can you confirm that you've followed the steps listed here regarding the Pi?  I've not used tightvnc on the Pi, but I have set up vino without issue.  You can find the guide to set it up here.

Thanks.

I guess that Vino does the same Job ?

Vino does the same job as tightvnc.

Can you try deleting the \.congfig\rvplayer folder (from both the user and root folders) and try restarting the Player after that? Its possible that some information from where the proxy was not established remained after the proxy was online and is causing a conflict.

Thanks.

You'll also need to do the /root/.config/rvplayer folder.

Ok

removed the folders and tried to run the installer again but I get the following

I tried running my Pi through a proxy again (fresh install of the Pi Player), following the guide I linked to above and I didn't encounter this error.  I can verify the in the proxy that the Pi is connected and isn't being bypassed. I am not able to generate this error message.

After doing a little digging regarding that 2nd screenshot you provided in the link above, I found that the PolicyKit Authentication Agent may be the culprit.  Can you go to Preferences > Desktop Session Settings and uncheck that setting and try again?

Thanks.

Can you try restarting the Pi via the Restart Player button available on the Display's page?

its working whoooooo, now the next bit, how do you get it to populate the display ID and claim ID so if the unit reboots it will auto login and carry on ?

That information should be stored when you first entered when prompted.  The actual information is stored in the RiseDisplayNetworkII.ini file that is contained in the rvplayer folder.

Are you saying that on reboots it isn't keeping that information?

correct, it prompts you to enter the display ID or claim ID, If I click the claim ID that is populated with the claim ID so I have to enter the displayID

I have put the details in the .ini file and rebooted the unit, so as you can see it does know the Display ID  so I click on Claim ID and it popluates the claimID and I have to enter the display ID

Ah, actually that screenshot helps a lot.  You'll first need to create a Display at http://rva.risevision.com (you can sign in using any Google account).  You can find steps for adding a Display here.
The Claim ID can be found on the Settings page.  You don't need to enter both IDs for it to work.

Thanks.

My mistake, I was tring to use its pretty name, but looing on the web at the display it shows its display ID as something different, changed the .ini file to the display ID being shown on the web, and it logged straight in,
thanks for your help

Where does the riseplayer pickup the resolution information from ?

The resolution is picked up from the Pi itself.
