Newer player setup on old Raspberry Pi?

I already have 4 players running on the old Raspberry Pi setup I built back in October 2014. They are all B or B+ versions.

Just built an image using the new player and have it running on my development RPI version 2 (my personal device).

Will this new player install work on the B or B+ models as I would love to update to the newer player as I am a regular Ubuntu user.

Thank you. Hate to hear that but I also have alternate plans in the works as I love the HTML5 video capabilities of the new player.
